21.01.2022 We’ve got some exciting news to announce... The Portarlington Mussel festival will be back on the 8th January 2022! The committee has already started planning the event and will be doing everything we can to go ahead. We will have challenges but our aim is to deliver a festival that all can enjoy in a safe and happy environment. The committee will work on a COVID safe plan for the event, by working through the government restrictions and processes. As this process becomes cl...earer and we are confident in moving forward we will share more details with you here and on our website. Thank you for your continued support and we’re excited to see the festival back in Portarlington in 2022.
21.01.2022 Thanks to all our stallholders, musicians, visitors, sponsors and volunteers who helped make 2020 one of the best years yet!
19.01.2022 Tomorrow's forecast is looking quite cool, so pack a jacket and a picnic rug, and come on down and enjoy the music and mussels all day long! Gates open at 9:30am.
16.01.2022 Driving to Portarlington from Geelong There are a couple of ways to get to Portalington. The Drysdale Bypass is currently under construction so be advised that there are roadworks and temporary road closures in the area. 1 Portarlington Rd will take you directly to Portalington however, there are roadworks underway and 40km speedzones in place.... 2 - We are lucky that Whitcombes Rd (west) has been opened for the day tomorrow you can turn from Whitcombes Rd directly onto Portarlington Rd. If you choose this route you will need to turn left onto Jetty Road (at large round about coming into Drysdale) and follow this onto Bayshore Ave, watch for traffic signage to help navigate your way. 3 Bellarine Highway and Queenscliff Rd take the Bellarine Highway and turn left on to Queenscliff Rd to take you to Portarlington. 4 Bellarine Highway, Swan Bay Rd, Queenscliff Rd to take you to Portarlington. To learn more about road works underway in Victoria and to help you plan your trip, visit www.bigbuild.vic.gov.au
15.01.2022 Important message from the Portarlington Mussel Festival Committee. It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that we have made the exceedingly difficult decision to cancel the January 2021 Portarlington Mussel Festival. As you know COVID-19 has turned our world upside down. We have not taken this decision lightly, but after considerable discussions, including taking into account the current positions of both state and federal governments, the health and wellbeing of ou...r community and festival visitors must be our priority. The virus is unpredictable and rules are being changed and we feel it is appropriate to make a decision now rather than being forced to do so closer to our event. We are very aware of the impact of this health crisis on our local community, stallholders, sponsors and entertainers and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the cancellation of the Jan 2021 Portarlington Mussel Festival. Thank you for understanding at this incredibly challenging time for us all. We wish all our local community, sponsors, stallholders and entertainers good health and look forward to welcoming you back in January 2022, as we hope to deliver a bigger and better festival which we can hopefully celebrate together again. Please Stay Safe. The Committee. http://www.portmusselfestival.com/important-message-from-t/

08.01.2022 What a great job Rie and Fiona do with their cooking demonstrations throughout the day
06.01.2022 Did someone say Cooking Demo’s... Rie (from Rie's Kitchen) & Fiona are back on deck this year doing demonstrations on the hour (except 2pm) come and say hello and if you sit up the front you’ll be sure to get a taste test!
06.01.2022 We're thrilled to announce that thanks to over 20,000 visitors through the gates, we've been able to donate $32,000 back to local community organisations this year (pictured here at our community thank-you event). That brings the total to over $230,000 since inception! Read more about the success of the 2020 festival on the blog: http://www.portmusselfestival.com/wrapping-up-a-successful/
05.01.2022 Thanks to the Portarlington & Drysdale Community Bank branches and The Tribe for capturing this amazing video of our festival yesterday!
02.01.2022 We've been getting lots of questions about transport to and from the festival.. There is free parking at the Portarlington Recreation Reserve, and a shuttle bus will take you to the festival entrance, or you can stroll down in 8 mins. A local courtesy bus is also doing pickups all day from Portarlington and Indented Heads. Bookings must be made before 11:00am on festival day by calling 0400 963 566 (sorry the bus can't take kids 7 and under). Please visit our website for more info, timetables etc.http://www.portmusselfestival.com/about/transport/
02.01.2022 Who's ready for mussels?! A quick reminder: -Please leave your dog at home, it's simply too crowded! Service dogs excepted. -Entry is $5 cash per adults, kids are free. All proceeds go back to the local community! -No BYO alcohol -We will have water fountains to fill up water bottles... -There is an ATM on site, but please bring cash as a lot of stallholders and the entry gate only accept cash. -Weather is looking cool and clear, so bring your picnic rugs Thank you! We can't wait to see you all tomorrow. Gates open at 9:30am.
