I was invited to join a styled shoot at The Rainforest Grotto near Port Douglas a few weeks ago and this was one of... the ceremony spots under a HUGE fig tree! It's a magical location to have a wedding and I'll definitely share what a reception could look like under this giant. This week I received the most exciting call from the gorgeous folk @mountmulliganlodge and am soon to head across the red earth and officiate some love at this truly spectacular place (be still my beating heart). . Mount Mulligan holds special memories for our little fam (of camping trips and horseback adventures)...and indigenous legend has it that this is the birthplace of the rainbow serpent (the energy here is in a league of its own). ... . 15.01.2022 2020’s got me thinkin’ . As I wrap up the FNQ wedding season (one gorgeous little ceremony down Byron way to go ) and reflect back over the last months of truly beautiful weddings (micro and elopements) I learned something about how much couples embraced these tiny, intimate ceremonies. Some were the patient ones, who flowed with the ever-changing circumstances around their wedding plans and their elopement was what their ceremony evolved into after the second or third at...tempt at getting hitched (bless you guys, you all dealt with it like complete legends ). . ...What truly surprised me though was the amount of elopements for people who HADN’T been planning on getting married this year, and COVID (for the epic it was) had given them the perfect out to marry the way they had always wanted. It lifted the curtain to the fact that even in 2020 there is still a whole bunch of stuff happening on people’s wedding days out of obligation. We need to blow the lid right off that! Your wedding day should be FUN (for everyone, but most especially for YOU) and you should be having the time of your life....whatever that looks like. . Here’s a little snap of me (thank you @matthew_evans_photography !) watching on like a proud (somewhat squinty) mum as Mel & Mark drink champagne with their 5 guests, laughing and super-relaxed, approximately 2 minutes before their ceremony began. 15.01.2022 All smug and jolly after making it official for the Camps! What a couple of gorgeous humans . And what a treat to reconnect with industry legends @therawphoto @nineblooms (I was too slow to snap the gorgeous florals post ceremony but youll get so much more out of Jasons photos once they hit the socials ). . Norma & Gabe had a table of photographs of the many precious faces who couldnt be there ~ including Gabes parents and sister in the States. 14.01.2022 Todays adventures took me south to Bellenden Ker, where Mel & Brett locked down their love by the creek on their beautiful property. Mel came in riding through a palm forest on her horse and all I can say is I LOVE A COUNTRY WEDDING . . It was so beautiful seeing family and friends pooling together to adorn the house and prepare the food...simplicity is a beautiful thing. . 02.01.2022 If you haven't seen it going around yet, I am a part of a group of wedding suppliers up in Port Douglas, including Port Douglas Weddings & Hire, who are running... a competition for one deserving couple to WIN a Destination wedding worth 60K! The 'prize' literally includes everything you'd need for your dream wedding, including flights and accomodation to get up here!
