23.01.2022 The winter weather here in Port Elliot is perfect for bicycling and hiking! The Heysen Trail is nearby, and we can even arrange transport to/from your start/finish if you wish. Our fabulous bikeway/walkway runs along the coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa, boasting magnificent views. We have 5 near-new Malvern Star all-terrain bikes available for hire, at only $10 per half day ($20 per day), helmets and locks included. After a fun day of hiking or cycling, curl up with a jigsaw or a movie in our warm and cosy lounge. So slip into your lycra or grab your hiking boots, and head on down to Port Elliot Beach House YHA. See you soon!

22.01.2022 Hi everyone! We still have beautiful sunrises and sunsets here at Port Elliot. It won't be long before we're open again. Watch this space!

20.01.2022 Hey everyone - have a look at this great opportunity!

20.01.2022 Hi everyone. We're open at last! Yay! Please come and visit us, and when you arrive in Reception, you'll be welcomed by our new mural whales... The dear old Arcadia building has had a big spring-clean and we are diligently practising physical distancing, with plenty of hand sanitiser available, and individual mess kits given to guests. Hope to see you soon. Lots of love from Jill and Graham.

20.01.2022 Yes! We are dog-friendly! We have a room set aside for guests with a dog, so your pampered pooch can share your holiday experience with you! Naturally there are a few rules to keep other guests happy: your darling doggy is only allowed in your bedroom and in the back-yard on a leash under adult supervision, and any "lawn chocolates" must be cleaned up straight away... Book direct by phoning us on 08 85541885 to book the "Dog House" room. You just need to bring a dog-bed, leash, bowl and food. And there are lots of great walking places along the coast to exercise your best-friend. Here are some of our recent canine guests...

16.01.2022 Hi there! We hope you're all doing ok. Unfortunately we're still closed. But while we are waiting to open again, we thought we'd send you some pics of what we (and our stranded helpers) have been up to during lock-down here at Port Elliot... from puzzles to painting, from baking to beach walks, from egg hunts to exercises... more to come... Take care everyone! Hopefully we'll see you soon!

12.01.2022 Our resident whales here at the Encounter Bay Marine Park this year are a cow and calf called Mysteri and Magic. They have delighted whale-watchers, photographers, and on-lookers for several weeks now, with their daily life of cruising and playing between Port Elliot and Victor Harbor. They are usually seen close to the coast, while Mysteri teaches Magic how to dive, breach, and sprint, in readiness for their long trip home to the Antarctic later in the year, a journey of something like 3,000 to 5,000 kms! Meanwhile "little" Magic is growing bigger and stronger every day, nourished by her mother's milk. Our wonderful whale-watching photographers brave the winter weather to take these amazing photos, this one courtesy of Sue Lodge... thank you Sue! Love your work! (taken from Freemans Lookout, Port Elliot)

08.01.2022 Whales Whales Whales! Before the hols are over, you need to come down to Port Elliot to see our wonderful whales! This is an amazing photo, courtesy of Marian and Andrew Chuck, of an excited Southern Right Whale breaching! It's doing a back-flip, leaping out of the water on its back. What you can see in this photo is the underside of its jaw and its flippers. If you look closely you can also see its left eye! Come and stay with us here at the hostel, and you may even see the...m from our balcony too! And there's so much to do here on the Fleurieu Peninsula: cycling, art galleries, wineries, surfing (bring you wetsuit!) We looking forward to seeing you. Our lovely old building is equipped with heaters, so all the rooms are warm! Many thanks to Andrew and Marian Chuck for this photo! See more

02.01.2022 Yeehah! We have finally been given the go-ahead to re-open our doors to guests from Monday 29th June. So now is the time to plan a winter break! Phone us on 8554 1885 to book or to leave a message. We have spent our lock-down time maintaining and deep-cleaning the dear old building, which was once known as the Arcadia Guest House, and we have a few new features... you'll love our new Reception area! A few of our magnificent WHALES have already arrived, all the way from the An...tiarctic, to welcome you! You may be lucky enough to see one from the comfort of our Balcony.
