25.01.2022 Massive congratulations to our superstar junior manager and outstanding official Naomi Dixon for being announced as a finalist for the Surf Life Saving SA Awards of Excellence as official of the year. We’re all cheering for you.

24.01.2022 Sitting eating breakfast getting ready for today’s patrol I hear such a sad story on the news. A father drowns south of Sydney trying to rescue his children and their friends as they were swept out to sea. Feeling for the family but a timely reminder with the weather heating up. PLEASE Swim Between the flags

17.01.2022 The Goolwa River Port area came alive this morning with a flotilla of craft on the water preparing for Vogalonga Down Under 2021. The original Vogalonga targets manually powered water craft and originated in Venice- Italy and is now also celebrated on the Murray River at Goolwa annually. The event, in it’s second year greeted participants with beautiful conditions and promised a great morning of racing. Port Elliot SLSC fielded one crew in the event. The Port Elliot Good ...Things were keen to improve their time after contesting Vogalonga Down Under 1 last year. Claire Burke, Brianna Williams, Leanne Farr and sweep Troy Irvin rowed strongly during the first half of the race to Currency Creek and hold a strong position in the field. The Southwest wind increasing making the return to Goolwa Aquatics’ Club look very challenging. The Good Things accepted the challenge and found another gear pushing powerfully into the strong head wind. The crew went onto finish second place in the division behind the Goolwa Rowing Club Eights crew. The Port Elliot girls beating their last year’s Vogalonga Down Under time by 5 minutes in a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes. It was fantastic to see Moana SLSC fielding a Women’s crew in the event and finish the race with a smile.

16.01.2022 "One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to do all their sports? Well I have a confession to make; I don't pay for my kids to to do... sports. Personally, I couldn't care less about what sport they do. So, if I am not paying for sports what am I paying for? - I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't. - I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go to their training but they go anyway. - I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated. - I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body and equipment. - I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates, gracious in defeat and humble in success. - I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that placing or title they'd hoped for, but still they go back week after week giving it their best shot. - I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals. - I pay for my kids to respect, not only themselves, but other riders, officials and coaches. - I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight. - I pay for my kids to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals. - I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories, to be as proud of their achievements as I am. - I pay so that my kids can be out on the track instead of in front of a screen... ...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for sports; I pay for the opportunities that sports provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!"

07.01.2022 200 CLUB - NOW OPEN Our 200 Club is an initiative whereby companies and individuals donate a tax deductible $200 which helps our volunteers continue to keep our south coast beaches safe. To pay for modern life saving and training equipment, we rely on the good nature of our local businesses and individuals who would like to embrace the community goodwill and attributes that makes surf lifesaving so special. This year our club is undergoing a long awaited and exciting total... redevelopment which is by far the biggest in the state. This will provide a space that will become a much-loved community hub on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Without our clubrooms and facilities this year the 200 Club will be a critical part of our fundraising efforts - if you or anyone you know would like to be involved simply complete this online form: https://form.jotform.com/PESLSC/200-club (or print the attached form & return via email to [email protected])
