23.01.2022 The back of this truck became the perfect platform for so many musicians at the very first Port Fairy Folk Festival, held in December 1977. Here is Poteen, a Melbourne-based band formed in the mid-seventies, performing their traditional Irish music. Were you there?

22.01.2022 Postcards from Scotland Artist Profile: Ímar There are many reasons to be excited about Glasgow-based five-piece Ímar not least a line-up featuring current and former members of Mànran, RURA, Talisk, Barrule, Cara, Mabon, Mec Lir and The Lowground, whose collectively crammed trophy-cabinet includes several BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and All-Britain/All-Ireland titles. By far the best and biggest reason, however, is how excited the band are themselves. As soon as we all sat d...own to play together properly, it just worked, says bodhrán player Adam Brown, We were a bit stunned, to be honest; all looking round at everyone else, thinking, ‘Is it just me, or was that really good?’ Ímar are a purely instrumental band. Their musical style is derived from the folk music traditions of the nations of each member Brown is English, Murphy is Irish, Callister and Rhodes are Manx, and Amini is Scottish.Murphy notes that their style is "more of a pure-drop trad sound than most of the other bands we’re involved in" Tune in on Sunday 29 November at 8pm from our Facebook live event to catch Ímar and other brilliant Scottish Musicians. Proudly presented in partnership with Year of Scotland Australia 2020, Woodfordia, Showcase Scotland, Creative Scots, The Scottish Government and Glenturret Whisky.
