09.01.2022 Be vigilant Protect your Personal Information Please be aware that an automated telephone scam falsely stating to be the ATO is doing the rounds again. This week we received this call and below are the signs to look out for:... 1. It is a voice recorded message 2. The person speaking does not address you by name 3. The message will either state that there is a warrant for your arrest or that you have a tax debt and threaten you with jail or an arrest. This type of scam is not just telephone based. A letter with a similar theme is also used by the scammers. Do not call the number that they provide. It is a scam. If you are ever unsure of the legitimacy of a telephone call or correspondence from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions or the Australian Taxation Office please contact Portfolio Planners on 03 9686 9686.
