11.01.2022 To our dear PJP community, It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Port Jackson Press. The gallery will be closing as of the end of this month, July 2020. After much consideration, our long-standing directors Jeff and Elizabeth Makin have decided to officially retire. This coupled with the impacts of the current COVID-19 crisis have ultimately led us to the difficult decision to close our doors. Although this decision comes with great sadness, it also comes w...ith a deep sense of pride and gratitude. Pride for what we have achieved over the years and gratitude for you, our community of artists, collectors and visitors. The impact Port Jackson Press has had upon the Australian printmaking world is as much your legacy as it is ours. We humbly take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support over our 45 year history. It has been our absolute pleasure to present to you the best of Australian printmaking. Although we are ending our physical presence, but the Port Jackson Press website will remain active and you will be able to purchase historical published prints online. While Port Jackson Press will function for the online sale of historical published prints, the involvement of the Makin family with the contemporary printmaking world is not over. Co-director of Port Jackson Press, James Makin, will be launching JMG Editions this August, with a number of Port Jackson Press artists joining their stable of printmakers. Their prints will continue to be stored in our beautiful wooden plan drawers at James Makin Gallery, available to view by appointment (post-COVID). You can make an appointment by emailing Laura Kirkham at [email protected], or calling 0439 770 362. JMG Editions will sit as a part of James Makin Gallery which was established in 2003, and located in Collingwood. You will be automatically subscribed to the JMG Editions emailing list. However, if you don’t wish to stay in touch, simply unsubscribe via the link shown in their first email. Relatedly, those who have outstanding Port Jackson Press gift vouchers will be able to use them for the purchase of art at both JMG Editions and James Makin gallery. Once again we would like to thank you for your ongoing support. We are proud of our involvement with the Australian printmaking community over the past decades and excitedly look forward to seeing what the next decades hold. With sincerest gratitude and best wishes, Elizabeth, Jeff and James Makin
