23.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report. Mandurah Dawesville Cut has tailor, herring, skippy and whiting on offer. Beaches south of Mandurah are producing tailor and the occasional mulloway up to 12kg. Mulloway between 5kg and 6kg have been regular catches in the early morning around sunrise and well after dark. The slightly warmer weather has slowed bream activity down and anglers fishing the deeper holes are finding a few fish. Generally they are spread throughout the system and there h...ave been reports of some good fish taken in the lower estuary and from the areas adjacent to the Mandurah Quays and up around Murray Bend. Anglers wading the Peel-Harvey Estuary sand flats in the early morning are finding plenty of action, with whiting and herring caught. Surface poppers have been successful, but the better lure to use is a small dark coloured blade as these can be worked to suit the depth required. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY The region's jetties have herring and a few tailor on offer. The occasional King George whiting and plenty of yellowfin whiting have been taken from Shoalwater Bay this week. The drop-off along the sandbar to Penguin Island is producing flathead and and the occasional flounder. Long Point, Kwinana and Warnbro beaches have tailor early in the morning, while yellowfin whiting and herring are about until the seabreeze makes fishing with light tackle difficult. Anglers fishing from the beaches near Warnbro are catching tailor and small mulloway. Boats Recfishwest's Perth Fish Towers are holding plenty of Samson fish in the 10kg to 20kg range, as well as the odd bigger fish nearing 30kg. More Sambos have been caught near The Barges, wide of Rottnest Island, as well as near Carnac Island, Stragglers, Champion Rock and along the western edge of Three Mile Reef. Yellowtail kingfish have been patrolling the northern and southern sides of Rottnest in small packs. There are lots of King George whiting being caught along Parmelia Bank and The Windmills, while smaller numbers have been coming from waters off Leighton Beach and City Beach. There are still squid being caught along the seagrass meadows off Fremantle. Rock lobster catches have really increased this week with some noteworthy hauls being picking up in pots near Rottnest, at the back of Carnac and Garden islands and near the Three Mile. Divers have equally been doing well off Rockingham, Fremantle and Hillarys.

22.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report. Not going to be a good fishing weekend, maybe stay home by the fire. Mandurah Like most metropolitan beaches, weed has caused some concern for beach fishers near Mandurah this week. To avoid the weed, anglers have been fishing rock and jetty platforms with The Cut producing sand whiting, herring, skippy and tailor. Earlier this week, small pink snapper were caught at the ocean end of The Cut, while mulloway have been landed along Preston Beach. ...Fishers have been reporting decent black bream numbers in the Murray and Serpentine rivers. Charlie Berry, pictured above, is among river fishers enjoying the black bream action, reporting catches up to 35cm in the Murray River. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Plenty of tarwhine and herring, alongside some nice tailor, have been caught at Point Peron. Most spots from Rockingham to Secret Harbour are producing herring, pilch, whiting and skippy. Herring and sand whiting have been caught at beaches near Becher Point, while anglers fishing from the Palm Beach Jetty have landed herring, skippy and plenty of squid. Boats There are still plenty of pink snapper off Perth, while dhufish and baldchin groper have been coming from the 30m to 50m depths off Rockingham and Fremantle. King George whiting are in good numbers east of Rottnest Island and in waters out a few miles from Cottesloe and City Beach. Squid seem to be about in very good numbers along the seagrass off Fremantle and within Cockburn Sound. Emilio Orifici and Max Sampson caught a couple of dozen squid, of mixed sizes, along with herring and sand whiting near Woodman Point on Sunday. Shore based Surf fishers have been catching tailor on baits and lures at Grant Street, Swanbourne, City Beach, Floreat and Trigg Beach. Pink snapper are occasionally being landed along the beaches north of Mindarie. There are still lots of herring along the coast, especially at the rock walls and groynes. Mulloway are continuing to be caught near Narrows Bridge, but expect the enigmatic species to be lurking around the deeper areas of the Swan River further downstream from the freeway crossing in the coming months. Black bream have been caught on hard-body lures and soft plastics along Mounts Bay Road and The Causeway.

21.01.2022 Hi, we have now closed our workshop for repairs. The workshop will reopen on 29th of December. Tube and tyre replacement along with minor work will still be carried out. Thank you, from the Port Kennedy Cycles and Fishing team.

20.01.2022 A little update from the weekend. Thank you Graham Walker. Congratulations team, Graham best finish in your class, cannot beat that!!! Finlay, showed them a clean pair of pedals all the way round, cannot get better than that! The XCO State Championships this year were at our local trails in Langford Park. ... The PMBC team had set out a fast and challenging course that was made even more fun with constant rain. Graham finished with his best result at a state champs event with a 6th place in the Masters 5-6 class. Graham also picked up 2nd place for the XCO State series. Finley was competing in the U19 class and took to the lead from the start and never looked back finishing in 1st place giving him the U19 State Championship title. Many thanks to the team at PK Cycles for the ongoing help and support.

20.01.2022 Well done guys, great effort. Thanks for the update Carol. Thanks for the beautiful photo's of our great outdoors. This is why we mountain bike!! Well that was a surprise! Did not expect a podium and once I'd seen the track after the rain, even less so ... I had booked to ride the XCO State Champs but a change of plans due to family stuff meant we headed to Linga Longa instead, and if Ian is riding I'm not going to sit around so I entered the Downhill State Champs too. A bit hectic but all around fun sliding down the muddy, slippery off camber and steep track Rocket Rock. Ended up sliding on my butt a couple times in practice but survived to ride the final. Awesome job by my husband Ian Daniel to take out 1st place in the Masters 5, with times close to the younger guys Thanks for the loan of your mx helmet hun! To top it all off we got to watch the World Champ race into 1st in Elite. Thank you to Port Kennedy Cycles for your support again this year, in more ways than one, Mandy Baker and Chris Baker we love our Giant Liv bikes. See more

19.01.2022 Wishing all our customers a happy and safe Xmas. From the team at Port Kennedy Cycles and Fishing.

15.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report. Have a great weekend and lets see some of those fishing photo's Mandurah Tailor have been sporadic at the beaches, namely San Remo and Golden Bay, with a few caught earlier in the week. Anglers chasing black bream are consistently catching good fish from the Serpentine and Murray rivers, particularly in the lower reaches and the estuary as freshwater flushes them down stream. The Cut is still producing herring, King George whiting, tarwhine and yel...lowfin whiting. It has remained relatively free of weed and out of the wind, making it a protected spot for fishers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy. The southern beaches - from Preston to White Hills and Tim's Thicket - have a lot of weed. However, they are still producing herring, alongside the occasional salmon and tailor. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY The beaches near Long Point have been productive for tailor, with fishers reporting catches from 50cm to 60cm. There have also plenty of herring, pilch and yellowfin whiting. Anglers fishing in Warnbro Sound during the week have reported plenty of small pink snapper, King George whiting and squid. Point Peron has been producing tailor, while the occasional salmon is still being caught. Whiting are being caught at the Penguin Island sand bar and Secret Harbour, while the Safety Bay Yacht Club and Rockingham Beach jetty are producing herring and squid. Boats Some crews were able to head out at the weekend and the start of the week when conditions were calm. For those who did manage to travel wide, dhufish and breaksea cod were caught in 30m to 50m of water off Rockingham and Fremantle and in slightly shallower waters out from Hillarys, Ocean Reef and Mindarie. Pink snapper are still being caught near the inshore reefs and islands, with yellowtail kingfish and Samson fish. There are King George whiting along the broken bottom between Rottnest Island and City Beach. Squid catches were good along the seagrass beds off Fremantle early in the week. Shore based Pink snapper were again caught at the northern and southern rock walls during last weeks storm. However, judging by most accounts, those who landed fish put in a lot of time and effort. Gummy sharks were also picked up from the stones alongside a few salmon and the odd tailor. More tailor and salmon have been coming from the metropolitan beaches. Both species were caught at Swanbourne Beach on Saturday morning and there have been catches of both at Cottesloe Groyne, Grant Street, Floreat Drain and Trigg Point during the week. Herring are still about in excellent numbers with bag limits being achieved with, and without, the use of burley. The Fremantle rock walls are still producing King George whiting and squid. The lower and middle reaches of the Swan River have tailor and black bream on offer. Try between the Old Swan Brewery to the Causeway for mulloway on baits and soft plastics.

15.01.2022 Local fishing recfishwest Mandurah There have been more whiting and flathead catches along the flats near Mandurah lately, namely from the Peel-Harvey Estuary's shallows, this week as the weather continues to warm. Herring have been caught at the Dawesville Channel, alongside the odd tailor this week while more tailor have come in the afternoon at Tims Thicket. Murray River and Serpentine River are still producing good black bream catches. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARN...BRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Coventry Reef has herring, yellowtail kingfish, Samson fish and tailor on offer at the moment. The beaches around Warnbro Sound are producing tailor most afternoons once the sea breeze kicks in, along with herring, skippy and sand whiting. The occasional mulloway has been caught late at night. Point Peron has been producing tarwhine and herring, while the beaches around Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour have been producing some tailor. King George whiting have been taken from the beaches around Safety Bay and larger specimens have been taken offshore.

14.01.2022 Great selection of BMX.

14.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report! Should be a reasonable weekend to get and wet that line. Mandurah Tough swells have made fishing along the beaches difficult this past week, especially south of Mandurah. Beach fishers have caught tailor when conditions have suited, with Tim's Thicket and White Hills both producing fish. North of Mandurah, there have been reports of tailor - including the occasional big one - being caught. Mulloway action along the beaches either side of Mandurah i...s expected to improve in the coming weeks. Herring and tailor are the main catches at Dawesville Cut, alongside yellowfin whiting. Yellowfin whiting, herring and tarwhine are among the main catches in the Peel Estuary's lower reaches. Black bream fishing in the upper estuary has been slow this past week, but downstream it has been a different story with some good fish caught. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Rockingham Jetty is producing herring and chopper tailor. Palm Beach is a good spot to try for most species, with squid also about. Sand whiting and tailor have been caught at Warnbro Beach and Long Point. Boat anglers fishing out behind the Five Fathom Bank are catching demersal species, including dhufish. It is important to note that the annual pink snapper closure in Cockburn Sound and Warnbro Sound is currently in effect. Boats Dhufish, baldchin groper and breaksea cod have been coming from the 30m to 50m depths near Rottnest Island and off Hillarys and south-west of Fremantle. King George whiting are being found in patches off Cottesloe Beach, City Beach and west of Rottnest. Yellowtail kingfish are being encountered off West End, while Samson fish are patrolling the inshore bombies and wrecks. Skippy have been found in dense schools along the western edge of Five Fathom Bank. There are small southern bluefin tuna in 30m of water and deeper. Shore based Surf fishers targeting table fish from metropolitan rock walls and groynes have been picking up mixed catches of herring, sand whiting, skippy and squid. Tailor are sometimes being caught from Cottesloe, City Beach and Floreat groynes and the beaches in between. King George whiting are a chance from the rocks around Fremantle, which are also good spots to try for squid. There are tailor in the middle and lower reaches of the Swan River. Black bream seem to have been pushed downstream following the recent rain. Mulloway have been found schooling, at times, in the deeper areas of the Swan with Tom Schuiling - pictured below - among those landing an elusive 'silver ghost'. Giordano Gervasi was over the moon after landing this fat redfin perch while fishing along the Warren River last weekend. A fantastic photo of a fantastic freshwater fish. Well done, Giordano - great stuff! See more

13.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report. The weekend is looking pretty nice. Mandurah The southern beaches have been quiet this past week, but there were still reports of big tailor catches. The Dawesville Cut is producing plenty of King George whiting, chopper tailor, herring and pilch, while squid are also being caught in reasonable numbers. Crabbers are catching plenty of blue swimmer crabs in the deep water. Yellowfin whiting are starting to show up along the beaches from Madora Bay t...o Secret Harbour. Black bream are continuing to be caught in good numbers in the lower reaches of both the Murray and Serpentine rivers. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Palm Beach jetty is producing herring and skippy, while there are also a lot of squid nearby. Fishing at night seems to be working well for mulloway, with a nice 8kg mully landed last week. Beach fishers have caught whiting, pilch and herring. Jetties and platforms in the area have been producing herring and squid. Herring have been caught at most of the beaches, but not in great numbers, while there are still some salmon near Point Peron. Boats Plenty of pink snapper have been caught off Perth this past week, including near the inshore islands and reefs between Fremantle and Rottnest. Pinkies have also been caught along the back of Three Mile. There have been some nice dhufish caught in 30m to 50m of water off Rockingham and north-west of Rottnest. Crews haven't had to travel far to catch quality reef fish off Mindarie, Yanchep and Two Rocks. Deep droppers found grey-banded cod, bass groper and blue eye trevalla in depths up to 400m. Squid catches have increased along the seagrass off Fremantle following improvements in water clarity. Shore based There have been some nice tailor and small mulloway caught between Brighton and Trigg during the past week. More tailor have been caught at Grant Street and Swanbourne in the early morning, together with the odd salmon. Herring are still in good numbers right along the coast, while King George whiting can be targeted from the Fremantle rock walls alongside small skippy and squid. Mulloway are still being caught on baits and soft plastics near Narrows Bridge and the Causeway in the evening. https://recfishwest.org.au/become-a-member/

09.01.2022 Recfishwest fishing report. Mandurah Beaches south of Mandurah are starting to produce tailor alongside small mulloway. Dawesville Cut has big herring and tailor on offer in addition to squid. The beaches to the north of Mandurah have been a little quieter, with a few smaller mulloway caught this week. It shouldn’t be too long before larger specimens start to appear along the San Remo, Madora, Singleton section of the coast. Anglers chasing black bream in the Murray River hav...e caught fish up to 38cm this week. There have also been more reports of crayfish being caught, especially in pots, this week. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Kwinana Beach, in addition to the Rockingham and Safety Bay jetties, have been producing mulloway at night - don't discount fresh squid as bait. There are still a few flathead being caught from the sand flats along the Shoalwater shoreline. Tailor have been caught from the region's beaches in the afternoon this week, after the seabreeze comes in. There are a few small whiting on the sand flats between the mainland and Penguin Island, as well as occasional flathead. Fresh Water Rainbow trout continue to be a staple catch at Drakesbrook Weir, near Waroona, with a few nice sized fish caught alongside solid brown trout. Redfin perch, and the occasional brown trout, have been caught in Harvey Dam this past week. Fishers in the know have been catching nice rainbow trout from the Warren River, while Big Brook Dam has some solid rainbows and big brown trout on offer. 04.01.2022 Recfishwest Fishing Report. Have a great weekend everyone! Mandurah Boat fishers have had luck when targeting demersals off Mandurah the past fortnight, with reports of big dhufish caught. For land-based anglers, the Dawesville Cut is still producing herring and King George whiting, while there are also plenty of black bream in the lower reaches of the river systems. Black bream are also being found throughout the Mandurah Estuary, but there has been better fishing upstream... in the Ravenswood area. Also, anglers fishing in the canals are reporting some good bream to 38cm. Fishers are encountering weed on most beaches both north and south of Mandurah, however, they are also catching the occasional big tailor alongside plenty of choppers. Although winter is almost over, some salmon have not moved back east and there are still a few small schools being found along the southern beaches. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY There have been big sand whiting, skippy, tarwhine and some good pink snapper caught at Warnbro Sound this week, alongside squid. Most beaches in the area are producing tailor, herring, yellowfin whiting and sand whiting. Anglers fishing from Kwinana Beach have caught whiting, pilch and herring. Palm Beach Jetty in Rockingham has been producing herring, squid and the occasional herring, similar to most land-based platforms in the region. Anglers who braved this week's cold mornings and evenings have been catching mulloway from these structures. Boats Snapper have been prevalent off Perth at spots including Champion Rock, Stragglers and The Mewstone, as well as along the western edges of Five Fathom Bank and Three Mile Reef. Fishing with soft plastics, Perth fisher Aleks Ceklic landed his personal best pink snapper from Warnbro Sound on Saturday. Reef fishers in search of dhufish have been picking up 10kg to 20kg fish in the relatively deeper waters of 50m to 90m. King George whiting are in waters off Leighton, Cottesloe and City Beach, as well as east of Rottnest Island. Sandy patches in more than 20m of water are likely to be holding sand whiting. Squid catches along the seagrass beds within Warnbro and Cockburn sounds, and also out from Fremantle, were up this week following an improvement in water clarity. Shore based Pink snapper were landed from Perth's southern and northern rock platforms when the wind and swell was up this week. Tailor have been coming from the beaches in the morning and evening, alongside herring and sand whiting. King George whiting and squid can be targeted at the rock walls within Fremantle and in Cockburn Sound, while the jetties located in the lower reaches of the Swan River may also be worth trying for the cephalopods during a calm evening. There are black bream and tailor in the middle and lower reaches of the Swan. The deeper areas of Freshwater Bay and Mosman Bay are likely to have mulloway during this time of the year. See more

02.01.2022 The news continues to get better for our fishing community. Breaking news: Premier announces recfishing boost package resulting in more places to fish and more fish to catch! Since the onset of the COVID crisis, we have been working intensively behind the scenes making the case to the State Government to invest in making fishing better. Our aim was and continues to be to maximize fishing enjoyment, assist our sector in generating its $2.4 billion annual spend and play our r...ole as fishers in helping get our great State back on its feet. Today that work has paid off with the Premier Mark McGowan and Fisheries Minister Peter Tinley joining Recfishwest at Hillarys to announce a multi-million-dollar investment package boosting fishing including three new artificial reefs for regional communities in the next three years, innovative fish stocking programs and celebrating WAs world-class fishing. This is a great result and shows the Premier and the State Government recognise the importance of fishing and the key role it has in contributing to our economy, our lifestyle and the health and well-being of the one in three West Aussies who go fishing each year. Recreational fishing is a strong element in our social fabric, said the Premier at today's press conference. Promoting and supporting regional fishing events, trails and adventures We have some great fishing here in WA and through creating exciting new fishing trails we can help fishers discover new adventures along the expansive 12,000km coastline in our own backyard. A key part of the package will help promote and support many of the WAs fishing events run every year that have suffered through the loss of sponsorship due to COVID. These cracking community fishing events and tournaments help shape the WA fishing landscape and and we are keen to make sure these are not lost from the WA fishing calendar.

01.01.2022 Recfishwestfishing report! Mandurah Dawesville Cut has continued to produce big herring, tailor and skippy this week. The beaches to the south of Mandurah continue to produce tailor to 50cm, herring and skippy. Mandurah's northern beaches have tailor, herring and whiting on offer, alongside mulloway reportedly up to 6kg. Anglers fish...ing the Mandurah Estuary and Peel-Harvey Estuary have been flicking small poppers and stickbaits to catch yellowfin whiting to 35cm and herring. It comes as giant herring have reportedly been caught in the estuary this week. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Surf fishers are catching tailor in the afternoon once the seabreeze chops the water along the region's beaches. Anglers fishing on the sand flats between the mainland and Penguin Island are catching small whiting, alongside flathead and skippy. At the region's jetties there are herring, squid and the occasional small mulloway. The beaches around Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour have been producing yellowfin whiting on a regular basis, while tailor are becoming more regular across the Rockingham and Safety Bay area. Albany rock fisher Gideon Mettam has traded fishing from the stones for the freshwater, catching a handful of redfin perch from the Warren River. We are keen to see Gido's freshwater YouTube video! #recfishwest #warrenriver #redemtiontackle #finor #jarviswalker #bait #fishinggear

01.01.2022 Recfishwest Fishing Report.. Mandurah The northern beaches are starting to produce a few fish with tailor, herring, whiting and pilch being caught along the San Remo to Golden Bay section. There have been a few bream around Yunderup and a little further upstream in the Murray River. Anglers, check the areas around the mouths of the Serpentine and the Murray rivers. Most of the beaches north and south of Mandurah have a lot of weed, but there are spots where it has cleared all...owing anglers to fish. The beaches at Preston, White Hills and Tim's Thicket are producing plenty of herring, a few small mulloway and tailor. Large pilch are also being caught in numbers at times and size is improving. The Dawesville Cut is producing some big herring, King George whiting, pilch, tarwhine and yellowfin whiting on a regular basis. SECRET HARBOUR / PORT KENNEDY / WARNBRO / ROCKINGHAM / SAFETY BAY Becher Point and Point Peron have been producing good catches of the smaller species during past week with pilch featuring prominently in most bags of fish. Right along the southern metropolitan beaches, there are plenty of herring being hooked on a variety of baits and lures alongside plenty of yellowfin whiting. There are still reports of some reasonable tailor around Point Peron. Anglers fishing in Warnbro Sound are still catching snapper, some good King George whiting and squid. Boats Pink snapper remain a popular target offshore, with many fishers picking up fish near the inshore reefs and islands off Fremantle and Rockingham. Pinkies have also been caught along the back of Three Mile Reef, north of Trigg. Skippy have been found in similar waters as pink snapper and also along the western edge of Five Fathom Bank. Large dhufish catches have continued, with the prized demersal species caught between Mandurah and Rottnest Island. King George whiting can be targeted north of Champion Rock, while water closer to shore may need to clear before squid return to the seagrass off Fremantle. Shore based Storm fishers who lined the northern and southern rock walls during the stormy weather this past week landed pink snapper in the 4kg to 8kg range. Herring were also found at the rock walls, while the stones along Capo DOrlando Drive have been producing King George whiting and squid at times. Mulloway continue to be caught on baits and soft plastics in the Swan River, mainly between the Narrows and Causeway. Tailor are occupying waters downstream of the Narrows, while Ascot has been fishing well for black bream up to 40cm. See more
