23.01.2022 Is it possible that this club member has grown a bit of facial hair to disguise himself on the freshwater scene. If so, it appears to have worked with these two the reward from 4 or so hook ups. This Saturday is the first club monthly competition with Whiting being the target species. ... Keep an eye out for a membership promotion where renewing and new members go into a prize draw each at the December meeting. Cheers.

21.01.2022 As a foot note to the last message ANSA still is closed for records so members need to understand that if the club is accepting records they still can't claim State or National records

20.01.2022 An online session arranged by the JYAF crew covering lure type, position, colors with Peter Pakula as well as the Ripcharts creator explaining water temps etc. If your a beginner intermediate or expert game fisher there's always something else to learn (or maybe you can share some tips or knowledge via online comments) lock the date and time in.

14.01.2022 With plenty of support from the followers of our page we got the gantry certification sorted. The team at PM Design group have given Portland's original gantry W.L.L. of 500kg. We would also like to thank those that offered contact names, financial support and ideas. Support from locals including C3 and the Brass Compass, the almost-locals at Coastal Marine and the Geelong and Melbourne based people was not only fast but well above expectations.

13.01.2022 Luckily Level 3 and 4 restrictions aren't terms that the fish in the local rivers relate to despite suffering from Lockjaw occasionally. At this time of year the Bream and Perch are schooling up for their annual run up or down river to reproduce depending on species. In healthy river systems, sounders will show good numbers of fish, but enticing a bite can lead to frustration. It's amazing how far up river fish can reach in the coming months and the speed with which they cov...er the distance. Recent reports have included Bream in the 30 - 40cm range, Mullet, as well as Mulloway to 5kg taking soft baits.

07.01.2022 Stocking of Rocklands by VFA is continuing with an additional 192,000 fingerlings released over the last month. The trout stocking in the Western district has also been ticking along with Purrumbete already receiving more trout and Lake Fyans scheduled for 10,000 Browns next week.

07.01.2022 With the club AGM set down for Sunday the 11th of October, fishing as a club looks set to resume very soon. In anticipation of this a couple of local rivers attracted the interest of so.e of the eager anglers. Saturday saw Bream to 40cm for those that fished to the East while today was more about sunshine with the landbased fishing at the Glenelg slow.... It's a river that can frustrate as well as be a fishing heaven. With great scenery and even the Iocal wildlife wanting to know "where we've all been" you can't do anything but enjoy the place.

06.01.2022 Unfortunately the club will not be able to weigh fish on the club gantry until further notice. The Glenelg Shire Council have issued us with several requirements that need to be met if it is to remain in position following complaints from an individual. We are working through an annual permit fee ($113) and engineering sign-off for a 300kg WLL (current quote is $1140+) in an effort to retain the gantry.... Every endeavour is being made to meet the requirements without impacting members. All options are worth considering, so if you have idea on meeting the requirements via cheaper providers (e.g. Jim's certifications) or ways of offsetting the cost please get in touch with us. We really want to keep the gantry and it's benefits to all anglers. Stay tuned.

06.01.2022 This is Murray Jnr - a descendant of a famous family of Murray's. Whilst not yet at the level of fame his great, great, great grandparents had, his condition is well on the way. With a little bit more growing he will make the slot limit and from there could potentially reach "Stonka" level. He waved his tail and took off to the nearest snag unharmed. Closer to home, the weather was just as good today and those fishing in the Saltwater were rewarded with Gummy shark and other bottom species. Outside the harbor has been producing Snook in numbers.

05.01.2022 With the continued relaxation of the Co-vid 19 restrictions the club is working toward getting back to some normality. I know that members are chapping at the bit the get the club up and running again so just bear with us a little longer as we are working toward opening the club up as normally and as quickly as we can. I thank everyone for their patience in these trying times Humpa

03.01.2022 These are the new rules for regional Victoria except the Mitchell shire and Metro Melbourne

03.01.2022 Delayed start to the Victorian Sport fishing Championship due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Don't forget to renew your club membership (or join) this month. It still costs less than $1 per week with ANSA affiliation included.
