25.01.2022 Extra Curricula Activities Every Friday K-6 students are provided the opportunity to develop skills in areas they have a keen interest. These include robotics, art, construction, gardening, STEAM and puzzling over challenges in escape rooms.... Our gardeners are excited to see how much their plants will grow over the holidays!

25.01.2022 Vivo rewards winners! On the last day of term we celebrated the amazing efforts of our safe, respectful learners with the Vivo rewards winners prize! The top Vivo earners chose a movie to watch and some fun snacks to eat while they relaxed after a term of always doing their personal best! Congratulations to everyone for your hard work! We can’t wait to see how you will top it next term!



21.01.2022 Today we celebrated Australian Reading Hour. We enjoyed listening to our class novels, participated in shared reading and loved reading some wonderful picture books to each other. We also had fun listening to Luke Carroll who read stories as part of NAIDOC Week.

19.01.2022 Santa's here.... Christmas is near... K/1/2 were extremely excited today to have a visit from Santa with a little help from our very own Pete the Platypus! Students were able to have a chat with Santa as they received their book gifts to encourage them all to continue their great reading during the holidays. ... They all loved their books and couldn't wait to begin reading. Thanks for making a special visit Santa.

15.01.2022 The Duke of Ed team had an amazing time on their two-day hike. Students learnt skills in navigation, leadership and resilience across the two days. We are very proud of what they have achieved! Thanks to Mr Ricketts for coordinating the trip

14.01.2022 Year 6 Graduation We were so proud to see our Year 6 students graduate. They all looked so grown up. It has been a privilege to support and watch them grow into the wonderful young men they have become. We wish you all the very best in high school.

14.01.2022 Fun with fractions! Over the past few weeks K/1 have been looking at making halves, quarters and eighths. On Friday we made gumball machines and recorded the colours of each gumball as a fraction! We then had the opportunity to show Pete the Playtapus!

13.01.2022 Student from PCS left early this morning to participate in an overnight hike as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Program. All the executive were in attendance to make sure their bags were packed correctly. Have fun guys!!

13.01.2022 Crazy Hair Day! Today we messed up and dressed up our hair to support local mother Rachel Woolsey and her family in her fight against Lymphoma. Thank you to everyone who donated! You all looked fantastic!

13.01.2022 PCS held an assembly for Remembrance Day. BJ Graham from Wallnuts in Portland presented the school with four amazing paintings commissioned using a donation from the Portland RSL Sub-branch to be displayed during commemorative events. The paintings represent the different roles Australian's have played in armed services over the years. We would also like to commend our school leaders for running such a special event. 11.01.2022 Today Portland Central School farewelled our graduating students with a COVID safe ceremony. Very emotional for everyone involved. All the best for the future!!

09.01.2022 PCS completed their first transition 6-7 session today. Students participated in a range of lessons with Food Technology and Science proving to be the most popular at the end of the day. We look forward to seeing you all again in a couple of weeks

09.01.2022 This afternoon our staff have completed Circus Skills Training with Lithgow Neighbourhood so we can teach our students next term

08.01.2022 We are so excited to begin our Transition Program this week. All children starting school in 2021 are welcome.

07.01.2022 Pete the Platypus bubbled with excitement today when he said a socially distanced hi to the children at Blinky Bill Childcare Centre. He happily gave bubbles to every child and caught up with his friend Blinky Bill. Pete can't wait to see the children's happy faces next term during our virtual Paddling Preps program.... Enrolment forms for Kindergarten 2021 can be picked up from our school office or from Blinky Bill Childcare Centre.

07.01.2022 Last day reward Our 5/6 were rewarded for their hard work and great progress this term, with the opportunity to plan their last day. Students collaborated and voted to determine their learning activities including free writing, Minecraft Education, Army Dodgeball, free construction, chalk drawing and art.... There were lots of smiles as they made plans, started their constructions and later took home supplies to complete their ideas during the holidays!
