17.01.2022 How can the team at PLD&O help the community stop the spread of the virus and yet still look after the community’s immediate dental needs? We have decided, based on Australia Dental Association guideline, to change our way of service delivery. From today we are going to limit our general dental care to dealing with relief of pain patients only(Emergencies). We have set up an emergency number (0401926583) for triage/screening. The clinic staff will be called in to work to al...leviate pain. We have decided to maintain our orthodontic service since it does not create aerosol issues, and therefore can be considered safe in the present circumstances. As with any other facility, if you have recently returned from overseas and are still self isolating, you have any cold/flu like symptoms, or suspect that you have been exposed to Covid-19 infection, please do not attend our clinic. This inconvenience will pass, and normality will return. I hope you will all continue to support the community’s efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19.

03.01.2022 Ashleigh, our dental assistant/recepcionist, introducing herself: My first experience at Portland Laser Dentistry was back in 2004. Things were a little different back then, Dr Stock was in charge, Kylie was his assistant, Dr Adriano and Dr Karine were nowhere to be seen and I was a patient attending my first check up and clean appointment. Five years later, I was advised that I needed braces. This whole process was much anticipated, but really sparked my passion for the den...tal industry. When the time came for me to engage in work experience during high school, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to observe the team at PLDO. As soon as I completed my time there, I knew that dental was the industry i wanted to be in ‘when I grew up’. Upon graduating from high school, I managed to attain a casual trainee position at PLDO which quickly resulted in a full time position allowing me to complete my Certificate III in Dental Assisting. It was during this time that Dr Adriano and Dr Karine moved to Portland from Brazil with their two young boys. Upon joining the PLDO team they added instant value, experience and fun to what was already a great team. 2014 saw the (temporary) end of my time at PLDO as I packed up and moved interstate for a change of scenery. I continued to work in dentistry as I made my way around Australia and eventually back to PLDO in August this year. Upon my return, I noticed a lot of physical changes that had taken place, the clinic had been renovated inside and out, Dr Stock had retired and sold the business, Dr Adriano had taken up golf, Dr Karine had finished her exams and was now working as a dentist and doing orthodontic treatments and there were some new friendly faces within the team. Although the business has evolved over time, the one thing that has always remained the same at Portland Laser Dentistry and Orthodontics is the focus on providing the best possible care for all patients in a comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable environment. I am honoured to be apart of such a great team and look forward to what the future holds.
