24.01.2022 To Theme or Not to Theme? It seems that people have very strong views about themed weddings, whichever side of the coin they fall on. In my research I found articles claiming them to be tacky or not taking the event seriously enough and I totally understand the desire to have a traditional wedding. But.... there's something so wonderfully awesome about two adults who love each other, playing together to create a wedding they'll both remember and having a ball in the process. There's no reason everyone has to be the same. In my book it's just fine to express your individuality in whichever quirky wedding theme you like best. Also, I quite love the Doctor Who themed wedding in this article.....just saying..... :-)

19.01.2022 I love a big, joyous wedding as much as the next person but there's something about the peace and clarity that comes with an elopement. Just the bride and groom, the celebrant and two witnesses. Sometimes a few friends or family, not many. Simplicity and togetherness. Nice. :-)

15.01.2022 Tonight I'll be re-reading the ceremony for Sunday's wedding, printing names onto the beautiful Marriage Certificate, ironing my outfit and gathering my Signing table and chairs. I'm already excited, I can only imagine how the lovely couple is feeling!!

09.01.2022 Recently, I've been rehearsing for a new play at our local theatre. The Vicar of Dibley 2 opens this Wednesday and I'm excited!! :-) This is a picture of me with lovely Dan, who plays Hugo. Unusually, there'll be no last Sunday matinee because I have a wedding booked in! :-D

08.01.2022 I've just realised that despite having put things on my personal page about Marriage Equality and Australia's Yes vote, I haven't yet posted anything here. I was relieved and joyful when the results of the vote came through. I had assumed Australia would vote yes but when it was announced, I realised I'd been holding my breath. It was a much more emotional moment than I expected. So now we wait, and when the day comes that Celebrants Australia-wide can begin to plan weddings for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, I'll be celebrating!

07.01.2022 So yesterday was my birthday and this happened! I'm so excited and grateful that Australia has chosen Marriage Equality. Why? Because it was, in my opinion, the right thing to do. I've been married for almost 20 years. Has it made any difference to the quality of our love? Perhaps not, but being legally and socially accepted as a family unit has given us an underpinning of security which has sometimes felt important. I'm not saying that marriage is the only way to be in a relationship but I am saying that it absolutely should be a choice available to all adults in our community. And now it is. What a gift!
