21.01.2022 FGA was appalled to receive this email on Friday in which Victoria Police make the threat that as Victorians and firearm licence holders if we blatantly and de...liberately breach the restrictions in place by the Chief Health Officer then your licence can be suspended, cancelled or may be subject to a reprimand which could harm any future licensing. This positive discrimination is unacceptable. We saw earlier this year the over reach by Victoria Police with firearms retailers. This is again another over reach discriminating again against firearms licence holders. Over the weekend FGA has written to the Minister for Police, the Executive Director LRD and also made a complaint to the Victorian Discrimination Commissioner about this outrageous over reach and positive discrimination by Victoria Police. If you feel discriminated then please make a complaint to the Discrimination Commissioner at https://makeacomplaint.humanrights.vic.gov.au/ FGA has been very clear that we must respect and comply with restrictions in place to protect us and battle the spread of COVID19. To imply that Blatant and deliberate disregard of the CHOs directions endangers public safety and calls into question a licence holders suitability to be licenced in an area that requires a strong emphasis on safety is disgraceful and again tries to paint licensed firearms holders in a poor light. This behaviour must be called out. FGA will be taking this issue up on behalf of members.

21.01.2022 With the announcements of Stay at Home restrictions, which apply from 11:59pm on Wed 8th July 2020, we have received the following advice from the Mornington Peninsula Shire. In a nutshell, Community sport cannot take place. Further meetings with the Department of Sport and Recreation are to be held today.... Stay at Home Restrictions The Restrictions apply to the Melbourne Metropolitan area and Shire of Mitchell. The Mornington Peninsula Shire is part of the Melbourne metropolitan area. What does this mean for your club or activity? Indoor sports centres including gyms, training facilities and pools will be closed Community sport training and competition cannot occur within the Melbourne metropolitan area or the Shire of Mitchell. If you live in this area you cannot participate in community sport elsewhere Outdoor sport facilities will be closed, except for facilities where people can exercise with no more than one other person or members of your household while maintaining 1.5 metres distance. 21.01.2022 Australia’s major hunting organisations are taking a combined, cohesive approach to address challenges as Victoria moves towards new animal protection legislati...on and to shape the framework to ensure that hunting continues to grow and to play its important role in the community - socially, environmentally and economically. Field & Game Australia, Australian Deer Association, Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (Victoria) and Victorian Hound Hunters have agreed on core principles and on a shared facilitator to prepare a detailed submission to the directions paper and an engagement effort beyond that. Animal Welfare is core business for hunters we share deep and unique responsibility for the welfare of both the animals we hunt and of our companion animals.

20.01.2022 Look forward to getting to the other side of this.

18.01.2022 Field & Game Australia has today made its submission to the Game Management Authority with regards to the Victorian Duck Hunting Season 2021. FGA can find no ev...idence that could argue that the legislated season as prescribed in law should be changed. FGA also recommended that the changing to opening times that was introduced as a pilot for 2 years in 2018, has not currently demonstrated any benefits and, therefore the opening times as prescribed within the law need to be in place for the 2021 season. DJPR who were at the meeting had no response when asked to provide a report or evidence of benefits. The GMA when pressed admitted they had provided information to DJPR some 18 months ago. We are now in January 2021 and still no report. FGA challenged DJPR who have committed to follow up the outcomes. FGA has also prepared a supplementary report which we intend to send direct to Ministers and Departments which further evidences our position, which is based on the facts and data and is defendable not based on emotion or subjective views. Also at the meeting to present to the GMA were RSPCA who's policy position is to oppose duck hunting period. Animals Australia who's position was to ban a season in 2021, Birdlife Australia who's view was that breeding stock would be significantly impacted and SSAA who also supported a full season. As the only duck hunting organisation with a seat at the table, we prosecuted our case directly to the GMA. Further more we will be also be speaking directly to Ministers and prosecuting our case on behalf of you our members. We take great pride and responsibility to represent members to ensure sustainable duck hunting in Victoria continues for generations. The full submission will be available on our website later today.
