23.01.2022 Happy #WorldMaritimeDay! This year's theme is Sustainable Shipping for a Sustainable Planet, a theme perfect for what we've got our focus set on at Ports Australia right now. #Sustainability is business, it is unique for all, and it is our future.... Our new Port Sustainability Strategy Development Guide: https://www.portsaustralia.com.au/value-of-p/sustainability

16.01.2022 Ports Australia had a busy afternoon yesterday talking sustainability with RMIT and IAPH on two webinars. Mike joined two distinguished panels to discuss the opportunities both domestically and internationally that sustainability can offer not just the Maritime and Logistics Sectors, but the wider community. The recording of the IAPH webinar can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGkCxMOY0Dg

15.01.2022 In 'Supply chains remain resilient', NSW Ports CEO, Marika Calfas sheds light on how the state's supply chain responded to the pandemic, and all the investment being made to sustainably support its future. "Investment in sustainability initiatives and infrastructure capacity at Port Botany and Port Kembla will ensure that these key trade gateways continue to effectively service NSW’s long-term growing trade needs." - Marika Calfas, NSW Ports CEO... https://www.theaustralian.com.au//d295ab1a8533c0e9959d4737

14.01.2022 Just a reminder that the DCN Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards will be announced tomorrow. We're excited to see colleagues and friends be recognised for their amazing work throughout an undoubtedly interesting year for the sector. Good luck to all! 11.01.2022 The Daily Cargo News reached out to Ports Australia for our take on the upcoming Queensland election yesterday. We must see ports at the forefront of both side’s policies as we approach the election. The north eastern state has just over 20 ports, contributing a substantial amount to the country’s export throughput and economy.... Additionally, once we see the heavily relied on tourism sector recover from COVID-19, it will turn to the new cruise terminals in Brisbane and Cairns as leaders in boosting that recovery.

10.01.2022 'Boosting workplace diversity' highlights how diversification across the ports sector is critical to its growth. It also contains case studies on three women in different roles at ports across Australia - every one of them we're incredibly proud to have in the industry. It is about being open to have people working for you who are different... That’s the real difference. I don’t want to be employed because I’m female. I want to be employed because I’m the right person for th...e job." - Dr Rochelle Macdonald, Mid West Ports CEO https://www.theaustralian.com.au//e2475b0897fcaa04f6ace993

09.01.2022 We got the news this week that CEO of Mid West Ports Authority, valued Ports Australia Board Director, and friend, Dr. Rochelle Macdonald is resigning from her role as CEO. Rochelle's legacy at MWP will be upheld by the diversity she's built and in the strong direction she's taken the port's operations during her time as CEO. Rochelle deservedly won the award for Women in Shipping & Maritime Logistics at the 2019 DCN Australian Shipping & Maritime Awards. We're sure there'll ...be more awards to come her way wherever she ends up leading! Ports Australia wishes Rochelle the best of luck in her future endeavours. We hope our work together will continue in another form soon!

08.01.2022 'Automation creates ‘safer, more efficient’ workplace' debates the benefits, shortfalls, opportunities, and challenges which automation brings. Technology does allow you to do a lot more, but the focus is always on making things safer and more efficient, not taking away jobs, - Rod Nairn, Shipping Australia CEO... https://www.theaustralian.com.au//9be78eacc7072c611eaf924a

08.01.2022 We appreciate the support we've gotten from the team at International Association of Ports and Harbors and WPSP World Ports Sustainability Program throughout the launch of our Port Sustainability Strategy Development Guide!

07.01.2022 Tune into our chat with Honida from Cruising With Honey at 1.30pm today about the relationship shared by the #ports and cruise industries and its importance for our nation's tourism sector.

04.01.2022 'From adversity comes opportunity' is Ports Australia's piece written by CEO, Mike Gallacher. It discusses the COVID-19 response (the successes it brought and the flaws it exposed), the importance of data accessibility and transparency, and the potential for a 'Pacific bubble' through strengthening international ties. "If we choose to learn and grow from this, we’ll have a sector and supply chain even stronger than we began with." - Ports Australia CEO, Mike Gallacher... https://www.theaustralian.com.au//9e4ff5da4a742ce8dfe8bf20

04.01.2022 We've been lucky enough to share the story of our Port Sustainability Strategy Development Guide with the American Association of Port Authorities' virtual Energy & Environment Seminar & Expo. 03.01.2022 Stewart Lammin writes for Flinders Port Holdings in 'Futureproofing the industry a priority'. "It has been a challenging year, but the future of ports and logistics in Australia remains strong if the industry can embrace innovation." - Stewart Lammin, Flinders Port Holdings CEO... https://www.theaustralian.com.au//85c194c79bcc9d5cffa3e9f4

03.01.2022 As freight volumes grow across Tasmania, TasPorts is growing with them. Read 'Integrated plan to keep Tasmania connected' to hear more. Often, if you look at the traditional port model, the stakeholder relationships are with the shipping line and/or the terminal operator... Certainly, we’ve got great relationships with those two industry groups. But from the Tasmanian perspective, we felt that it was just as appropriate to develop stronger relationships with the ultimate cus...tomers being the farmers or the industry groups that are wanting to deliver better supply chain efficiencies or understand their aspirations for change and/or growth. - Anthony Donald, TasPorts CEO https://www.theaustralian.com.au//508ed8ebadb7a22e9693ae95

02.01.2022 The relationship between ports, cruise ships & their peak bodies, local communities and government regulators needs to be close as ever to ensure the highest levels of safety are in place when Australia gets #cruising again. Like ports, the #cruiseindustry plays a major role in Australia's #economy and #tourism sector. Local producers and operators around port cities often rely heavily on cruise ships pulling up. Local Indigenous communities have the opportunity to educate t...ravellers on the rich cultural significance of the land. They're an integral aspect of Australia's modern tourism sector and #ports are part of the conversation to bring them back safely! CLIA Australasia Cruising With Honey https://fb.watch/3hI6ffs1SC/
