24.01.2022 No Tennis coaching this week. Last lesson is next Thursday.

24.01.2022 Hi everyone! I've been watching the Federal Government and Tennis Australia’s directives on the course of action of how to continue tennis coaching during the Coronavirus pandemic. I have made the following decision for Port Sorell Tennis Coaching:... From this week, there will be no tennis lessons taking place at the Port Sorell Tennis Club until further notice. At least 4m2 per individual in an indoor room is required for any indoor gatherings. This means it will be hard to continue with wet weather lessons as tennis is always on. Also, the uncertainty with weather at anytime will make this impossible if we have to go inside if it suddenly rains. I will be reimbursing $10 to anyone who paid in advance for the last two lessons that have been abandoned this term. I have placed a refund in envelopes to hand out to children in the hope that I will be able to catch up with them this week at school. If your children are at high school or at another school other than PSPS I will try to catch up with you over the next week. If you haven’t yet paid your fees, the revised amount owing is now $30 rather than $40 for the six weeks this term (members). Thanks for your understanding! Take care Peter

12.01.2022 Hi Everyone, just providing an update as to where our club is at during this fast changing period we are all experiencing at the moment. Our intention was to co...ntinue to provide tennis activity for all our members as a release from the current crisis. However with the latest round of government requirements we feel that we must ensure the safety of our members and the community. Therefore we are now ceasing all organised tennis rosters and fixtures from tomorrow Tuesday 24th March until further notice. The courts are still available for members to access for social tennis. If playing please observe the guidelines as specified from Tennis Tasmania. Link below: https://www.tennis.com.au//covid-19-guidelines-for-continu Peter Georgiades has cancelled all coaching sessions until further notice also. The inter club match with Forth has been cancelled as well. Be assured the Committee will continue to work towards ensuring the club continues to function so that we are ready to resume when the time is right. So to all our members, stay safe, check on your neighbours and we'll see you back on the courts as soon as we can. All the best, The Committee

08.01.2022 Port Sorell Tennis Coaching Today was the last of our 5 week lesson block of tennis for Term 4. There will be no tennis next Thursday for the show day long weekend. Tennis will on the following week December 3 for our final lesson of the year.

08.01.2022 Statement from Tennis Tasmania recommending all tennis activity to cease temporarily in Tasmania To the Tasmanian tennis community, We hope this email finds you... safe and healthy in these uncertain times. With the continued escalation of the COVID-19 crisis and in consultation with the tennis community and the Government at each level, Tennis Tasmania and Tennis Australia have identified that we need to act in the best interest of community health and safety by applying the following recommendations. Tennis Tasmania is recommending that all tennis activities cease temporarily across the state, from 11:59pm, Saturday 28 March. This recommendation includes: All tennis clubs and centres are to close until further notice All tennis programmes and coaching be postponed or cancelled, including one-on-one coaching All club, association and social play be postponed or cancelled until further notice All public court hire bookings to cease. This is an extremely difficult and unique situation, and we know it will be equally difficult for our clubs and coaches, and so many of our community that rely on tennis for their personal wellbeing. The decision to cease all tennis activity in the state of Tasmania has been particularly difficult, as we know the impact this will have on so many of our community - physically, financially and mentally. Premier Peter Gutwein's message could not be clearer though when he said, "Stay at home, unless you must be at work or school. Staying home, saves lives." We are exploring all appropriate options for resuming tennis in a safe way when health officials deem it safe. This pandemic and these exceptional circumstances will pass and we want to work with our partners to ensure tennis is back bigger and better than ever. In the meantime, please reach out to any of the Tennis Tasmania team for any further information or support. This is a challenging time for everyone, please stay home and stay safe. Kind regards, Martin Turmine Darren Sturgess Tennis Tasmania President Tennis Tasmania General Manager

06.01.2022 #Shine4thefrontline - Saturday, 18 April from 8:00pm With greater isolation rules in place throughout the North West to reduce the spread of coronavirus and the... associated heightened anxiety, now is the time to show your appreciation to all frontline workers that continue to keep everything running, from the obvious to the invisible - those in the health profession, aged and disability sector, cleaners, pharmacists, emergency services, supermarkets, butchers, food take-away, service/petrol stations, bakeries, laundromats and dry cleaners, newsagents, rural services, food processing, general stores, bottle shops, IT repairs, car repairs, transport operators, veterinary services, animal and pet food supplies, banks, hardware supply stores, councils, waste management, manufacturing and educators - who don’t have the option to self-isolate and are constantly in contact with others, placing themselves at higher risk. This is your opportunity to break out your Christmas lights, light a candle, wave torches or shoot a spotlight into the air from your property from this Saturday at 8:00pm and into the future to say thank you. Such a simple action will show your support and demonstrate to frontline workers that you appreciate them turning up, working hard and giving the community hope in such an extraordinary time. #Shine4thefrontline Photo by Adrianna Calvo See more

02.01.2022 Hi everyone, With some of the Covid 19 restrictions starting to be lifted the tennis club is reopening on May 25 for social tennis only. Coaching will not commence this term due to restriction of use of clubhouse and number of children that can be coached at the same time. When stage 3 restrictions are lifted I will review if tennis will commence in term 3. Thanks... Peter See more
