24.01.2022 Since adopting the Port Stephens Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) and Local Housing Strategy (Live Port Stephens) in July, Council has already started work on a number of actions in the documents. There’s no dust collecting on these strategies! Check out what we've done so far below. Prepared an investment prospectus for Port Stephens (to be released this month)... 23.01.2022 NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, in collaboration with contractors Turf Design, have created a draft master plan for the Tomaree Coastal Walk and placed it on public exhibition for feedback. The plan provides a framework and conceptual designs for the delivery of the 20-kilometre Tomaree Coastal Walk connecting Tomaree Head to Birubi Point. The Tomaree Coastal Walk will cater for a range of immersive, nature-based visitor experiences from short walks to half day and ...overnight options rich in Worimi culture, historic heritage and natural wonders, providing opportunities for tourism partnerships. You can view the plan and submit your comments at www.environment.nsw.gov.au/consult. You can also email your feedback to [email protected] or mail to NPWS Hunter-Central Coast Branch, PO Box 488G, Newcastle, NSW, 2300 Hard copies of the plan are available at Tomaree Library and Community Centre. 21.01.2022 A new on-road shared path between Nelson Bay and Little Beach is coming soon! The temporary path will create a safer route between the town centre and the beach and will connect to the existing path network. Works are set to begin Tuesday 20 October, weather permitting. During the works, there will be a temporary closure of the section of Victoria Parade around Fly Point headland.

21.01.2022 If your property is managed by a real estate agent or strata manager in Port Stephens you can take advantage of additional garbage and recycling bin services during the Christmas school holidays. Your current garbage bin will be collected twice per week. Your current recycling bin will be collected weekly rather than the regular fortnightly service. The additional collection service is available for a set 6 week period only, from 21 December 2020 to 31 January 2021.... Ask your agent to arrange this service before 23 November 2020 to avoid disappointment, or contact Council’s Waste Services team on 4988 0255.

20.01.2022 150 care packs were collected today to be delivered to Aboriginal Elders in the Port Stephens community. This project was a collaboration between Port Stephens Council, Hunter New England Primary Health, Wahroonga Aboriginal Corporation, Aboriginal Affairs and Aboriginal Health. 19.01.2022 The NSW Government has launched a new campaign to inspire more women to represent their community and run for council at the September 2021 local government elections. There are a series of workshops and programs being made available for potential female candidates across the State. Through a combination of online webinars and face-to-face workshops, the training will help address the barriers women face when they run for office. 19.01.2022 Over the coming weeks, seniors within our community will receive a special package from local school children as part of an initiative to help combat social isolation caused by COVID-19. Students from Raymond Terrace, Grahamstown and Irrawang Public Schools were tasked with creating artwork that illustrates what they are grateful for and what they love about their community. These artworks were printed onto calico bags and are now filled with items from a range of local businesses. The bags will be distributed to seniors across the community via Integrated Living.
