21.01.2022 12 days and we still have all three of our Hooded Plover chicks! Thank you to everyone for giving these little ones space and observing the signs. Also great to... see responsible owners keeping their pooches on the leash for the small stretch where the Plovers are. Even if your dog is well behaved and keeps by your side it would be really appreciated if you just leash it for the 200m stretch - we will soon have many visitors to the beach and want to lead by example (like what I’ve done there?). Thanks again to Sue and Ash for these photos of chicks at 11 days old. IMPORTANT these photos were taken by a photographer with extensive bird-nesting training, using a long lens and from a considerable distance. Photographing this species comes with extreme risks to the birds, so we advise simply viewing them from a distance. See more
