21.01.2022 The simplest way to finish off a hem, turn it under -TWICE I’ve been sewing for years, but this is still one of my favourite ways to finish off a garment, as it can be done in so many different widths to suit your garment What’s your favourite sewing trick? 20.01.2022 Hang in there, only a few days before school starts. Are you happy or sad the holidays are ending? I have mixed feelings, like jumping for joy and then realising I'll have to make lunches again!! #holidaysareover #schoolsback #mumpreneur #ilovetosew #perthcreatives #mumsinbiz

17.01.2022 Did you know that reusable masks require 3 layers of different fabrics to make them most effective? With the speed at which things have moved this past week with the Coronavirus lockdown in Perth, it has created a huge demand for masks. But it’s important for your health and the safety of others that your masks meet certain requirements, in particular the fabric selection. This calls for a little bit of thought into your fabric choices. But for those who are creative, you c...an probably source these from recycled supplies at home.... From an old cotton shirt a polyester -cotton top and a reusable green shopping bag.... raid your wrapping paper box for ribbon or even use an old hair lacky or two.... get creative and you'll get it sorted Tomorrow I will show you how to create a mask yourself but for now let’s look at the important aspects of choosing fabric for your masks that are safe and what to look for if you’d rather purchase online. I highly recommend checking out www.healthywa.wa.gov.au and search reusable fabric masks for a guide on how to make them or what to look for if you are buying a handmade mask from someone #perthlockdown #handmademask #perthcreatives #staysafeathome #fabricchoices #smallbizlife #makercommunity #maskmaking #perthsmallbusiness

11.01.2022 As I sit debating with myself whether to do this post or not I am deeply conflicted. I’m a pretty private person at the best of times. Posting and creating relevant content for my audience is a challenge in itself. I’m not a huge sharer, so it’s tough at times when something happens in life and you think that’d make good content. Then I probably overthink whether to use it or not I like to only share on here when my private life is actually relevant to my sewing and creativ...e journey I’ve been quiet here and I wanted to explain, as hard as it is to share. This is not one of those good content moments. I open up, not for sympathy and likes, just respect and understanding. It’s been 18 days since my Sister in law lost her battle with cancer. And 5 days since we said our final goodbyes. She was a beautiful soul who loved everything about life. She loved the thrills and excitement and adventure, but also valued the calm and serenity and the quiet. She loved the beach, but also the bush. She loved the sunshine, but also the wicked storms. And she Loved music! I am heart-broken Not only for her daughter, but her 2 year old grandson and the little one on the way she didn’t last to meet. I am heart-broken for my husband, his sister and brother and their parents. I am heart-broken for my kids who loved their AJ and I’m just so damn grateful for the oodies she got them for Christmas so whenever they need, they can crawl inside and get a warm hug from her. So in the past few weeks I’ve been slowly losing my MOJO. And I’ve really struggled with the idea of slowing down my posts here, as I know the algorithm will work against me I worked really hard to bring you relevant content with everything going on, so I won’t lie that I’m a little disappointed in myself but I also forgive myself too. I feel flat. And that’s okay. I’ll be back. Hopefully better than ever but quite possibly just okay. It doesn’t feel real that she’s gone. And as I reread what I’ve written, I’m not even sure I make sense So, if you’ve got this far thank you for your understanding
