22.01.2022 Beautiful parents, Elves are back...Are they worth using (along with Santa), as surveillance for good behaviour? I’d so love to believe the return of this guy, could solve sibling conflict, non compliance, emotional meltdowns and whatever else comes up in typical family life, just by watching our children 24/7 and reporting back to Santa each night. The same goes for Santa (he knows when you are sleeping...he knows when you’re awake...) you know the rest. ...Continue reading
21.01.2022 Clearly I’m not the first person to say this - and we’ve all heard it - one of those super simple, yet potentially powerful sayings, passed down from generation to generation... Many teenagers and adults I’m working with at the moment have been feeling overwhelmed by social comparison, social media competition, exam stress, friendship conflict and competition in general. These are all very distracting and stressful things to have buzzing around your mind all day. ‘Do your be...st and forget the rest’ is just one small and straightforward way to simplify things for a bit...to take a pause from all the thoughts that follow effort or being in a moment of pressure or competition...to stop the overthinking - even just for a dash of time... It’s all we can do right? Our best? And getting fixated on other people’s opinions, approval and reaching outcomes doesn’t actually change other people’s opinions, approval or the outcomes of our efforts. Getting fixated on these things is physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. So when it’s all too much and you are done trying to figure it all out, I like this simple thought to follow each moment where you’ve done your best. It’s not for everyone but if it’s for you, enjoy it and the mental rest is can bring. Your best is awesome. (And that can look different from one day to the next). Take care beautiful people. 18.01.2022 Thank you School Psyched,Your School Psychologist for this important reminder. Ive been thinking about this a lot lately for my colleagues in Education, Allied Health and Health Care and anyone who supports others, whether it be as a parent, child, friend or carer. When your role is focused on helping others during adversity and someone elses head and heart sits in your head and heart for much of the day, self care is very easily forgotten...and it can come with a heavy p...rice...work is difficult to leave behind when the clock hits 5pm unless you have specific strategies in place to discharge that stress at the end of the day. I know there are lots of other professions carrying this too, Im just speaking this time for the areas I work in. I see it in others and I see it in myself. Lately, I wake up some mornings with a heavy heart, try to remember whats wrong and remember Im feeling the pain that my clients are carrying because some of the things people go through in their lives are so tragic, how do you leave them behind? Take care everyone. You matter. We matter. Everyone matters. 16.01.2022 Teacher and Teacher Librarian appreciation post. (Never underestimate the power of a good book and a caring adult). PS long post warning! Our friends, family and school community were amazing and did everything they could to show us they cared - and we felt that love and still do......Continue reading

14.01.2022 Im so proud of the incredible work James Parker, Child Counsellor and Developmental Educator provides, helping young people after family separation. Hes made a massive difference to our PMA clients ability to adjust, adapt and cope during this period of change. James also sees young people struggling when a parent or carer is working remotely. Amongst many other achievements, James has also been able to help a number of pre teens and teens who were refusing to go to school..., return to learning with their peers again. James is a quiet achiever. I love all the heartfelt feedback I receive from parents about the work he is doing to relieve their family stress. Thank you James for your hard work, dedication and compassion for families during their most vulnerable times. What a wonderful stroke of luck to have you working with us. 06.01.2022 I work with good parents every day. I work with good children who have tantrums, meltdowns and power struggles every day. Don’t blame yourself if your child is going through a difficult time.... Parenting isn’t run off a perfect formula based on a predictable schedule. Toddlers, children and teenagers are vulnerable to challenging behaviour because they are still learning, growing and figuring stuff out. So are parents. Be kind to yourself beautiful parents. 02.01.2022 Dear conflict repair tools, Thank you for all the messes you’ve tidied up. Without you friendships, relationships, communities and workplaces can sometimes be damaged in ways that become irreversible. ... You’re worth all the courage it takes to use you, in those vulnerable moments of life, when people speak and behave in ways that hurt. Love from, all people, everywhere. Folks, we’ve got to teach young people these tools early from @gottmaninstitute - the art of ownership, responsibility for our words and actions and the beautiful art of repair (because no one is perfect all the time). These brilliant scripts for adult relationships from The Gottman Institute are easily transferable for young people. Hansberry Educational Consulting and Bill Hansberry are leaders in restorative practices for young people, if you’d like to gain more knowledge in this important area.
