24.01.2022 Hands up if you find this hard? Can you think of a time where you challenged a friend? Called them out for doing the wrong thing? Or just quietly questioned them? I value honesty and integrity and when (gently) challenged by a friend I know it's coming from a place of love.
20.01.2022 Is it time to reassert your boundaries? What do you want to say no to? Who do you want to say no to? Time for some cognitive and emotional self-care.

18.01.2022 I have been having a break from my podcast Creating Connections that Matter and hope to resume soon. But this is my last one, and my far the most popular. In case you haven't caught it yet - here it is. https://anchor.fm//Connect-with-your-calm-through-a-guided
17.01.2022 This is the question I thought I'd answered BEFORE I started my digital detox. Turns out it wasn't quite so straightforward. Which of these would you include ...(ie not do) when you were on a detox? Does a Digital Detox mean you pretend you are camping without electricity? Or does it mean taking a break from social media. 1. email 2. messenger 3. texting 4. phone calls 5. Facebook 6. Instagram 7. YouTube 8. Searching something up on the computer 9. LinkedIn 10. Timer/stopwatch/alarm 11. Other As well as answering this question and explaining what I found, and what I changed as I went, in tomorrow's Creating Connections that Matter - for Mental Health Professionals podcast you will hear and ponder the power the benefits of even a short Digital Detox.
17.01.2022 Back to school anxiety
17.01.2022 "Just because a student is quiet and well behaved at school doesn't mean they're coping." Last year, we asked a group of our Autistic mentees to share something... they wished every adult would understand. We think this powerful insight from a Year 9 mentee applies to many young people, especially during these uncertain times. See more
16.01.2022 I'm not sure whether you're aware of the new Inner Calm, Connection and Confidence Hub? If you're a mum, a professional - or both (like me), you’ve probably tried a range of different self-care strategies like going to the gym, trying to get more sleep, or cutting back on alcohol or coffee... Anything to find some inner peace and quiet. ... To calm your frantic mind and the voice that tells you that you are not enough. And whatever you’ve tried, it’s damn hard to do it, particularly when you have a family, are working and juggling all the demands and expectations on your time. You want to achieve professionally AND leave work at work. You want to be fully there for your family AND you want to have some mental space and time just to think. And you can. The trainings in The Inner Calm, Connection and Confidence trainings are designed to give you practical and simple strategies to enhance your mental health. Whether you chose a quick download of simple self-care strategies that you can stick to the fridge, be supported with journalling, or choose a more in depth course for deeper understanding, it is up to you. At the heart of everything is a commitment to positive, practical and mindfulness based strategies designed to enhance calm, connection and confidence. 15.01.2022 This is my latest blog about Going Back to School. Although it is a positive step in getting back to COVID normal, it is still a difficult and stressful readjustment for many children.
14.01.2022 Your thoughts are not facts. Amongst other things, thoughts may be your perspective, they may reflect internalised scripts learnt from other people/society, they may reflect traditional role expectations.
13.01.2022 When you're restricted in your movements and can't take part in some of your normal happy things, what do you instead? Did you know that being the moment is associated with increased happiness. Yes. It doesn't matter what activity you are doing. When you really tune into your senses - touch, sight, sound, taste, smell - you tend to feel happier. Think of children simply lost in play, jumping in mud puddles, reading a favourite book, building lego, looking out the window, ...or eating a yummy ice-cream. That's it, that's the feeling. If you know that there are things just getting in your way of you living YOUR best life. I would love to help. You can also grab your copy of The First Step from Overwhelm to Calm - https://bit.ly/2GerVez . You're welcome .

10.01.2022 Self-care is not optional in times like these. It is ESSENTIAL to manage chronic stress. I know how hard it can be to fit self-care into your life. To download your free cheat sheet which contains 7 micro moments of self care - click https://bit.ly/3cbMQuA . If you are seriously struggling right now please reach out for help via your GP, regular therapist, or Lifeline 131114.
09.01.2022 You may not be able to change what is happening around you, but you can change what is happening within you. On this podcast I take you through a real life example of what the difference this can make in introducing more calm into your life

08.01.2022 What does self-care mean to you? I'd love to know. For me it includes a daily walk, appreciating the beauty around me, reminding myself to focusing on one thing, saying no to some things and yes to what I want, taking action in alignment with what is important to me, letting go of what no longer serves me (that's a tough one), having friends who I trust to hold my vulnerabilities carefully in their hands, and speaking to myself like a best friend. My self-care needs have cha...nged, and will continue to change as I do. And yours will too. If you are curious about exploring your self-care journey more don't forget to grab your copy of The First Step from Overwhelm to Calm - https://bit.ly/3cgLRJp . You're welcome .

06.01.2022 Yep. That’s a no thank you.
05.01.2022 This is a cause and an organisation that I personally support. Why? There are so many different charity organisations doing a wonderful job. Last year when the bushfires were on Bush Heritage sent email updates about how the bushfires were impacting on the areas they look after, and what they were doing about it. At the time I also supported a similar but different organisation who remained silent (to me at leasts) whilst this was happening.... I have been thinking about formalising my support for Bush Heritage through my business endeavours - Positive Young Minds and the Victorian Psychologists' Networking Group. Whilst I am still deciding the best way to do this, I have decided to donate all the proceeds from any of my online products/services bought through for the next two weeks. You can find the link in the comments below.
04.01.2022 In the midst of everything that is going on, you still have a right to experience happiness. In fact cultivating happiness will help you cope. Leave a happy gif
02.01.2022 HOW DO I GET MY CHILD OFF THEIR DEVICES/AWAY FROM FORTNITE (INSERT ANY OTHER GAME HERE)? This is a well heard refrain throughout the parenting community. This ...short post is not going to answer that question fully (this will be a topic in one of the new parenting groups coming soon), but, I can give you one quick hint. There has to be something else. And also - there often needs to be someone else to do these things with - whether that's you or a friend (or if you're very lucky a friend that is also a sibling!) What are the other options? When we are asked to give up very satisfying and rewarding activities there needs to be something else there. I have listed a few different, non technical ideas, inexpensive alternatives, which may act as a starting point. Add your own to the list below ps if you are interested in one of the new parenting groups stay tuned - or if you think you may miss a notification just press the SUBSCRIBE button under my profile and you will be kept informed.
