21.01.2022 42 years ago I slept on this Mykonos harbour beach for three nights, waiting for news of how I could get back to Athens. I was told that Athens had been flattened during the war and that all ferries were being used to transport troops to fight. I heard about a ferry transporting cars that was moored at the back of the Island, so sneaked on board at 3 am and finally got back to Athens. The noise of horns honking, people screaming, the colour of Greek flags flying - it was the night the Junta was replaced by the civilian government the 23 July 1974. On my recent trips back to Mykonos teaching Yoga, I have searched for my sleeping spot and thought about my unusual start to my first overseas trip.
