21.01.2022 Sever's Disease heel pain in children can be frustrating for parents and active children. There are few things more disheartening than seeing your child or grandchild in pain either during or after sport. Most children displaying signs of Sever's disease will tend to "limp" off the oval, sports field or court and complain of sore heels near the end of activity. Limping during or after sport is common.... As the condition progresses, children may complain of pain during activity especially with running, sprinting and jumping activities. Increased sporting participation just makes the pain worse. In very severe cases, pain prior to sporting activities may occur. Pain with arising from rest in the morning and even walking on the toes may be seen if the condition becomes extremely severe. Fortunately, help is available. With the right treatment by experienced podiatrists who truly understand Sever's disease, most children can get back to enjoying the sport and activities they love without disabling pain. 09.01.2022 What is ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) and how can this therapy help? ESWT works by transmitting radial sound waves into the damaged tissue, which provides benefits in 4 proven ways: ESWT is a non-invasive treatment which means NO surgery is needed.... Pain reduction occurs by dulling the pain receptors. Collagen production is stimulated which helps muscle, tendon and soft tissue structures to heal and repair. New blood vessels formation occurs in the area because the shock waves promote a process called angiogenesis. This means more oxygen and nutrients are able to help repair injuries. ESWT can be a useful treatment in conjunction with other therapies especially when conditions are chronic. Some conditions that can be helped with ESWT include: Chronic heel pain Plantar fasciitis Plantar fasciosis Achilles tendonitis Achilles tendinopathy Bursitis You can learn more about the benefits of shock wave therapy here: https://posturepodiatry.com.au/shock-wave-therapy-at-postu/ . #ESWT #shockwavetherapy #posturepodiatry See more
