21.01.2022 2019 First Sydney Highland Gathering in Sydney for over 150 years! 2020 cancelled due to Covid-19.

19.01.2022 The Guardian Photo 22/24 Anzac Day 2020: Australia and New Zealand come together in isolation in pictures | News | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com//anzac-day-2020-australia-and-... PPP played Amazing Grace in front on The El-Alamein Memorial Fountain. About 25 people gathered and the rest watched on from their apartments. Police thanked them for their contribution but, needed to ensure we move on as too many people were gathering (despite the distance between everyone). It was all fine, as PPP planned to march down and keep moving to the Memorial in front of HMAS Kuttabul. We think this is quite the historic photo representing the Anzac 2020 Covid-19 times. The invisible enemy, social distancing, Police protecing community, youths trying to give some hope and happiness into Australia's most densely populated area and a signpost, with the names of countries and how far away they are, yet all sharing the same fight. The El Alamein Fountain in Fitzroy Gardens, King Cross was designed by Robert Woodward. It opened in 1961 as a memorial to the Australian Imperial Forces 9th Division and commemorates the Battle of El Alamein, Egypt, in World War II. It is named for the Australian Infantry Forces (AIF) who fought near the Egyptian town of El Alamein, in two battles which helped turn the course of World War II. 12.01.2022 PPPs first Anzac Day 2019 started at 2:30am at Carringbah RSL followed by 3 others and then finally finished at Bistro Rex, Potts Point. Our Band, GMMPB - Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band, really rely on sponsorship to continue the operation of running the band, to continue teaching young and old. Pipe and Drum Bands are becoming more and more scarce in Australia. You could say it is an endangered species. Anyone can learn. GMM has members that start as young as 6 a...nd as old as 75. If you are in a position to sponsor, there are benefits in doing so. Please reach out!

11.01.2022 Royal Easter Show 2019 in the Main Arena. The PPP had so much fun on all the rides afterwards!

Since those restrictions, we have been doing pur practices, only with chanters, online.... We hope that you can follow us from your windows, from a distance balconies at the following locations: 6:00am: if you have a balcony or window facing Elizabeth Bay 7:00am: El-Alamein Fountain with a march down Macleay Street to HMAS Kuttabul. 10:30am Roslyn Gardens 11:30am Beare Park. Please keep your distance so that we can all enjoy this.

08.01.2022 PPPs had the most amazing experience when they participated amongst hundreds of pipers and drummers in front of a sold out ANZ Stadium. The rehersal before the show was intense, being so young, and unable to be accompanied their parents. They both reported that when they saw the crowd for the first time, they bothe experienced butterflies and an addrenalin rush!

06.01.2022 Daily Mail UK Australia Photo 26 /60 Thousands observe Anzac Day Dawn Service in Australia https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Thousands-Australians-stand-d... It is great that this Kings Cross/Potts Point image was one photo of 60 Australia-wide, chosen to feature in this article for Anzac Day. We recited the "Lest We Forget" poem, with our neighbours and school friends, and played Amazing Grace. Some onlookers bowed their heads forward and shed tears, whilst in contemplation. We will never forget this Anzac Day 2020. We will always remember them. Potts Point Pipers

03.01.2022 Khoda and Kiarra are members of the GMMPB - Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band. They have been playing the bagpipes, with the band, for just over a year. Last year was their first time marching on Anzac Day for severals RSL Clubs around Sydney. It was an eye opening experience. Anzac Day is our band's biggest and most important day in the calendar year, as we march all around Sydney and Regional NSW to pay tribute to the Anzacs. Our biggest sponsors are a couple of ...RSL Clubs, but who knows after Covid-19 how sponsorship will be affected. We need all the support to keep this art-form alive and ensure its survival down the generations. Please enjoy watching a few of our members who paid tribute, like and share. Thank you! 02.01.2022 Once Covid-19 is over, we hope to see you at a Highland Gathering, Pipes and Drums Contest, Concert or Performance. Potts Point Pipers and GMMPB - Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band
