20.01.2022 Everyone working on the neglected righty ad side slider lately, you can see the ones that swing left of the pole are what we are looking for. If it goes back into the body then it’s been hit too flat. You must create the incision on the ball, hear the chipping sound and then watch it swing away. Big time players bring out the big time plays in the big time pressure moments. We often practice simulating varying psychological situations when completing drills and activities. By... throwing in random sudden deaths or flicking on the camera randomly when unexpected, you can tell which players rise or fall when a variable comes about. This will happen all the time when you play matches.. a court next to you will have an argument.. parents heckling.. you notice someone in the corner of your eye - do you start thinking about that too much and forget about being in the present? 19.01.2022 Dear POWA Tennis Community, In light of the Vic Gov 'Circuit Breaker' Lockdown - tennis coaching is now postponed as of 11.59 Thursday 27th May 2021. We are hopeful that this will only be 7 days and will be back very shortly (fingers crossed earlier!)... In the interim, we are looking to learn more about opportunities in the local area of Eildon Park TC. We would love to hear from parents who have some contacts at their school, such as the P.E teacher. We are interested in having a chat with them about what the club/coaching could offer at their school, if they have access for tennis coaching, interested in using the club for events or graduations etc. If you also work locally in a small business, or know of small businesses that may want to connect with the club, have a staff cardio tennis session, or a social night - we want to know about it too! The club wants to strengthen ties with any local connections going forward and utilise our fantastic facilities to bring people together, whether it's for tennis or for the club for events/dinners. We also still require some help with juniors at the club in the Junior Convenor role (rewarded with the $180 worth of private lessons). Coming together and helping is important in our current environment. The committee has already reached out to a number of families without success, we are really in need of someone to help out now. Also adding to this, you will see on the document points like creating teams/gradings/dealing with WDTA etc. I will, and already help the Junior Convenor with a lot of the specific work, do the team gradings etc/provide expertise. So any background specific work that you are worried you don't know about, don't! I can help with any of that when it comes to who plays with who, and what teams play at what level. At the moment, mid-season you will hardly have 1-2 hours of work to do - mainly just simple organising of scorecards/keys/balls. Stefan Woolley & POWA Tennis team.
16.01.2022 Welcome to Mineth N @m1ntos down to POWA . Amazing tennis tonight working a lot at pick ups, half volleys and closing. Looking for high performance training? Squads? Full time program? Private coaching? Contact Stefan 0404226713 now
16.01.2022 Tennis lessons will be on for Thursday 27th as usual.
14.01.2022 POWA Tennis Vibration Dampeners. Just $4.99 to add some style to your racquet. Send Stefan a message if you want one, they are at the club next time you are here!
13.01.2022 Dear POWA Tennis Community/Eildon Park TC, A chance for a fantastic person to help us out to give back to a club that has given so much to you! Due to the circumstances, the Club is offering to subsidise the volunteer with the value of 4x 30 min private lessons @ $180 value. This value could also be applied to your invoice if you are involved in Hot Shots, Squads or other group lessons (would be a terms worth of hot shots for free!). "The club requires a new Junior Convenor ...required ASAP: to all our junior families - Nick has had a change in his working arrangements and will be unable to continue in the role. For all our juniors to continue to enjoy a well organised program, we need someone (or 2 people sharing the role) to step up and take on this role. Please don't just assume "someone else will do it". With the reduced number of teams submitted for this Winter season, it's a great time to get involved with fewer teams to organise. Please find in the link below the Junior Convenor Job Description, and you'll see that it's not all that scary! You'll have plenty of support from existing committee members, you'll get a detailed handover from Nick, and you get to join the awesome group that is the EPTC committee! Please get in touch with Nick ASAP if you can help out - even if it is just for the next few months until our AGM in August." The committee has already reached out to a number of families without success, we are really in need of someone to help out now. The POWA Tennis team and EPTC Committee would be extremely grateful to anyone who can help. Remember.. you don't need any previous knowledge, expertise, tennis playing experience, or even a kid playing competition. Having a kid who used to play, or a friend or even a kid that will play in the future is all more than sufficient. We will take you through all of it. Kind Regards, Stefan & POWA Tennis Team.

07.01.2022 The speed of tennis at the top! In the last week we have been discussing with our POWA Performance players how much faster they will need to play and react when they move up against better players. The stats don’t lie. The game is FAST at the top. The speed in which a player is now preparing for their forehand will not cut it if they already catching some balls late when standing 1m behind baseline against forehands averaging 100km/h. Then, they could have .2 of a second ...less time against some players in the world! The average forehand speed of ATP players averages between 114km/h to 135km/h. Referencing 2017 Roland Garros, Andy Murray was averaging 117km/h whilst Thiem was averaging a whopping 133km/h. Even Jelena Ostapenko was beating many of the men at 122km/h. At POWA, we always focus training our performance players in what they need for the future, not what they need to win right now. Obviously the best practice is to have Thiem as a hitting partner, but if you don’t, there are many ways to improve your early prep and reaction. A great way to always train, one that Shapovalov and Rublev do, is to practice rallying and hitting hard whilst standing inside the baseline. This forces you to prepare quickly, adjust and move feet faster than ever, and with repetition will naturally increase your overall reactive speed. The theory is if you can rally with time when your INSIDE no mans land, imagine how much time it will feel like you have when you go back a metre or two? Thanks to our in house statistician Jacob for the calculations. See more
07.01.2022 How good having ALL POWA GROUPS BACK! Wanting to come try tennis? Message me for a free lesson, any age, any standard!
04.01.2022 NORMALITY! How goods this having first day back Junior Comp down at Eildon Park TC. High spirits, good tennis and feeling like the start of the year again?
03.01.2022 Now that’s something you don’t see everyday. Guess the racquet! I’ve seen a LOT of bad buttcaps (and quality in general) from this massive racquet brand but haven’t seen it break it self in two after a serve
01.01.2022 Ryosuke working on tidying up the forehand technique lately. Before - had delayed prep when a fast ball was coming, limited racquet drop and excessive rotation of the back. Focussed on working on the medial epicondyle roll which is the little pointy bone on the inside of your elbow. An important aspect to topspin, this should turn down through contact and finishing the roll results in the racquet face inverting on finish. Segmenting the chain in parts on feeling the wrist that extends down the arm then through the elbow. Still needs more work to make it natural and flowing without thought. Check out some of the best forehands like Federer or Tsitsipas in training and how they tick off so many individual segments in one fluid swing. Lots of training is required to be able to make all the segments look seamless
01.01.2022 We are very proud to announce that we are one of the few clubs in the state that is running Blind/Low vision tennis. When we first got the call we learnt that it was nearly impossible to find any tennis, let alone sporting activities that catered for players who were blind/low vision. Fast forward and our incredible Coach Summer has been running a private lesson every Friday for a 8 year old girl who is fully blind. She is loving her experience in tennis. We use modified courts and a bell ball. Contact us if you know anyone who has been looking for a blind/low vision sport but has been unable to find in the area. Eildon Park Tennis Club, Rowville.
