24.01.2022 LOOKING BACK | When Pikey benched Barrett! Round 13, 16 July 2011 Paddy Barrett was the first Irish import to play at Power House. Wandering around the Lake in January 2006 with good mate James "Macca" McCarthy, the boys had just arrived in Melbourne and were looking to get involved. After finding out there was a cold beer available after training, the boys turned up 2 days later and stayed for the next 11 years! Macca was a handy footballer who went on to play 38 games wear...ing the number 60 jumper while Paddy (wearing number 53) took a real shine to the club and football, ending his career at the House in 2017 with 164 games. He served for 10 years on the committee, won a Best Clubman Award and had the honour of being the first Irish international to be inducted into Life Membership of the Power House Football Club. But the most intriguing game of Paddy's career was back in 2011 when four-time AFL Premiership Player and AFL Superstar Martin Pike was in his second year as Power House Senior Coach. In Pikey's first year, he led the club famously to the 2010 Preliminary Final where after falling behind early, Power House staged a last quarter comeback to fall agonisingly short by 5 points. There were high expectations heading into 2011 and by Round 13, Power House was sitting just a game out of the top 6 and was coming off a 137 point smashing of West Brunswick where 3 x time Best and Fairest Paul Edwards had booted a lazy 11 goals. 09.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT | Hi everyone, Well, we have now hit September and three quarters of the year has just flown by. Last weekend the Victorian Government announced its roadmap to reopening Melbourne and regional Victoria. As you know, under this current plan, there are no dramatic changes to our current stage restrictions with a "way out" targeted in Melbourne for 26 October, and an additional requirement that Victoria must have fewer than an average of five new COVID...-19 cases over the preceding two weeks before a determination to reopen the state is made. I know our players are eager to recommence training but we will continue to do the right thing to ensure that we navigate our way out of the current situation. We thank you for your patience and agility throughout this year. We know it has been far from easy. If the season had gone as scheduled, last week would have seen us all at Vote Count and enjoying the World Famous Chug a Lug - celebrating the end of the home and away season..... READ PAV'S FULL MESSAGE VIA THIS LINK: https://mailchi.mp//message-from-the-president-august-4161 Please reach out to Pav on 0414 339 990 or Secretary Daniel Buckley on 0437 948 984 for a chat or some help.
