17.01.2022 BOARD MEMBERS WANTED Powerhouse Dreams are keen to hear from community members who are looking for an opportunity to give back by being involved in our charity as a volunteer board member. We support children with developmental disabilities and their families in WA. We would particularly love to hear from people with disabilities who would be interested in becoming a board member and helping to steer the direction of our charity.... Meetings are held 6 weekly either by video call or face to face. We usually hold a couple of fundraisers per year and apply for small grants along the way. Please comment or private message to find out more.

04.01.2022 Update: Automatic Plan Extensions The NDIA has just announced that between April June 30th, many more people will be able to automatically extend their plan ...without going to review. Plan reviews can be very, very, very (+ a million ‘very’) stressful. So it is important to spread the word to participants about this option! If plans get extended, then people will be able to access unspent plans from the previous plan. The next plan will be funded at the same level as the previous one. The eligibility criteria for plan extensions are pretty broad, including: Current plan is due to expire between April- June 30th Current plan is at least 12 months long Participant is 7 or older Plans can be extended for up to 12 months. This policy seems to end on June 30th because by then new legislation is supposed to have passed in parliament, heralding in a new planning system. Since the draft legislation hasn’t even been released yet, this seems a tad optimistic on their part. Participants who want to automatically extend their plan should contact the NDIA.
