25.01.2022 As youre already aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a need for social distancing to help prevent the spread and further outbreaks. The Victorian Governmen...t has eased some restrictions over the past few days but with the tight timeline and no margin for error, we have made the decision to postpone the U13 Draft Camp and Academy Program that was set to commence on June 9 to a later date. While we know this is disappointing, we hope you understand this is a necessary step to help keep each other safe in these unprecedented times. We will update you with the new dates and location as soon as theyre confirmed, which is likely to be in the August-October window. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with the High Performance Department. Stay safe, and well be in touch with more information soon.

17.01.2022 A Message from the Club President In line with the Restricted Activities Direction. The Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that some coronavirus restrictions have been lifted from 11:59pm on Tuesday 12 May. Allowing outdoor activities to be held with groups of up to 10 people while still maintaining social distancing rules is the most relevant announcement relating to hockey. Clearly, this is a very positive step towards resumption of hockey activities. Guided by... the State Government advice, Hockey Victoria have drafted HV Return to Hockey Guidelines to provide direction to all affiliates in regards to resuming hockey activities. Based on the Guidelines, and other factors such as restrictions imposed by the City of Port Phillip, the Committee is working this week towards a formal plan to return to COVID19 restricted training. To this end the plan will need to be submitted and endorsed by both Hockey Victoria and Council before any activity can recommence, but we are anticipating a return to training around the end of May under strict safety protocols. The protocols will be in place to protect all members and will include the need to restrict pitch access to only 2 groups of up to 10 (including coaches etc.), hand and equipment sanitisation procedures, no sharing of equipment such as sticks and goalie equipment or face masks, and attendee online pre-registration for each and every training season. The latter will be required to ensure groups are not over attended, as well as helping with any contact tracing that may be necessary. While the Committee works this week on the plan and advises more details in due course, I encourage everyone to find and check your personal equipment and uniform in readiness for returning to training in the coming weeks. Start now going out for a regular run and prepare yourself physically. With due care we will hopefully continue to see a progressive return to competition in the coming months, but we need your support and understanding throughout. I hope everyone is well, and I am looking very much forward to us all getting out there and competing for our great Club once again. Eric Keser President Powerhouse St Kilda HC

12.01.2022 A Message from the Club President This month would have seen the start of the winter season. Unfortunately thats not the case due to COVID-19, but there is every intent to still have a season in 2020. On Thursday 17 April, Hockey Victoria (HV) announced that, due to the impact COVID-19 has had on the regular winter competition in 2020, it has been working on alternatives for a competition, in essence, the minimum requirements for a suitable season. ... At the forefront of a 2020 season proposal sent to Clubs, is the focus on ensuring all participants are able to play as many games as possible in what will most likely be a modified season. At a minimum this would means Juniors and Midweek/Masters minimum of 8 rounds, 1 game per week. Metro to Pennant D - minimum of 10 rounds, 1 game per week. Pennant C to Vic League 1 minimum of 10 rounds, 2 games per week. Premier League minimum of 16 rounds, 2 games per week. A start date for the proposed season is yet to be announced, but it is encouraging that yesterday the government suggested a potential easing of restrictions in the next four weeks. The Club supports HVs position to conduct a 2020 season, even if delayed and modified, and will continue to work with HV on this, and operate on that basis. In line with the above, Club membership fees already paid will not be refunded. Once the 2020 season is confirmed, any potential refunds or adjustments to fees will be considered accordingly. We do recognise however, that many are significantly financially impacted by COVID19 and the Committee will consider refunds for genuine hardship, but encourages all others to maintain a position that your fees will deliver a 2020 season in the not too distant future. The Club encourages all members to maintain fitness and skills in preparation for the intended season of competition, so that we will be at our best, as well as help reduce injuries after this extended period of not playing. We also encourage you to maintain engagement with the Club in ways that are appropriate, for example: by staying active on the Clubs social media channels, holding section/team get togethers over video conferencing, sharing videos and stories of what you have been up to keep yourself ready for the season, or a funny story of things you have been doing at home (Im getting my daughter to cut my hair and shes not a barber, could make for some laughs). Your stories can be shared with the rest of the Club by sending them to Fi Cousins at [email protected]. To keep your sills up, there are a number of resources that can be used to help you do this at home. Some of these include: YouTube Hockey at Home https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClNV1XnPBLCRCkQPO5IrhRA YouTube Hockey Australia - https://www.youtube.com/user/HockeyAustralia Keep safe, but also keep hockey in your mind. We are still all here, just waiting for the go ahead to get back on the pitch! Eric Keser President Powerhouse St Kilda HC
