03.01.2022 'Catering Innovation of the Year' - National Finalists! Congratulations to The Whiddon Group - National Finalists in 2017 Aged Care Hospitality Awards. Whiddon Casino were nominated for 'Catering Innovation of the Year' for incorporating the Power Knot LFC into their kitchen.... The disposal of food waste via the LFC reduced the aged care home’s carbon footprint. Whiddon Casino Director Care Services, Melissa Dunkley welcomed the announcement and said she is incredibly proud of the initiative. ‘I am thrilled that we have been recognised as a National Finalist. We have a strong focus on the environment and wanted to make the most out of our food waste. We looked at options and successfully trialled and installed a food digester in our kitchen,’ ‘The system breaks down food waste within 24 hours without the use of chemicals, is user friendly and we can even see our waste and carbon reduction levels through a report the system produces. It’s been a great initiative for everyone here and it’s arrival created quite a buzz.
