15.01.2022 Today we recognised International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia with our #PrideInPower community unveiling an origami butterfly installation. Over 1,000 origami butterflies were hand folded by Powerlink employees and their families, with each butterfly containing a message of support for our LGBTIQ+ colleagues, friends and family members. The creation of this artwork aimed to bring the Powerlink community together to spread a message of hope and healing. 10.01.2022 11am on 11 November is a time when Australians remember our fallen and observe a minute silence as a sign of enduring respect. #RemembranceDay, the anniversary of the day that the fighting ended in the First World War (1914-18). We’re proud to be raising funds to support the Banyo RSL Sub - Branch & Citizens' Auxiliary again this year. #LestWeForget

10.01.2022 This storm has already belted SEQ with 120,000 lightning strikes and brought down at least 30 powerlines. Your kids will be out trick or treating this afternoon.../evening so please be aware of lines down (they could be hidden among tree branches and debris) and if you see them keep everyone away and call triple zero. 03.01.2022 Qld, you did it! Thanks to everyone’s efforts to reduce power use, the potential shortfall last night was averted. Households, businesses, and especially ou...r big industrial customers made a world of difference to easing pressure on the state’s supply after CS Energy’s Callide station was abruptly taken offline yesterday afternoon. This loss of generation affected nearly half a million people: 380,000 in SEQ and 90,000 in regional Qld. Despite the largest single outage ever recorded in SEQ, we had all Energex customers directly affected by the Callide issue resupplied within two hours. Most Ergon customers were restored in an hour, with the final regional customers back on by 4.30pm. We know there were some frustrations with being able to contact us; however, our lines were clocking an unprecedented 168,000 calls per hour - thank you for your patience. TONIGHT’S OUTLOOK The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) issued a forecast of Lack of Reserve (LOR) level 1 for Queensland this evening. While this doesn’t indicate any immediate impact to supply, it means we can all continue to help by keeping a lid on our power use. LIFE SUPPORT PROGRAM Yesterday is also a reminder that while we do all we can to safeguard power supply, it’s simply not possible to guarantee availability. If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment, you should look into our Life Support program to ensure you have a Plan B. While our Life Support program doesn’t guarantee your power, it has some great advice on planning for emergencies, and we’ll keep you informed about planned outages. If you need the peace of mind of a guaranteed uninterrupted power supply, chat to a licensed electrical contractor. More info: https://bit.ly/3jkteak

01.01.2022 The Powerlink team came together to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and launch our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with support from Shannon Ruska and performers from Tribal Experiences. After 18 months of working together with our RAP working group, our team member Kayal Walsh from the Gooreng Gooreng tribe was excited to be one of the voices getting an important message out to help build support and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Kayal said the focus from here is on implementing our RAP and continuing to make positive change.
