25.01.2022 SOME more of my paintings to display at OPEN STUDIOS LATROBE ... this weekend at Powerworks, ARC Yinnar and various private studios
25.01.2022 Gippsland Archive and Discovery - they want to hear from YOU! https://www.gaidc.com.au/ The Gippsland Region has a rich history influenced by numerous cultures, multiculturalism and industrialisation. The region is one of Australia’s major resource regions with a range of natural assets including agriculture, forestry, mining and energy production. ... Federation University, Powerworks, RMIT Centre for People, Organisations and Work and supported by the Latrobe Health Assembly and Latrobe Valley Authority have jointly proposed to explore the feasibility of establishing a Gippsland Archive and Interpretive Discovery Centre. To develop this concept, the group has appointed SED Advisory to undertake the feasibility study. As part of this process a significant level of community and stakeholder engagement is necessary to better understand the region’s heritage, archives, culture and demand for the potential development of the Gippsland Archive and Interpretive Discovery Centre. With this background, we would invite you to make a submission to this project. We are particularly interested in questions such as: Do you think the development of an archive and discovery centre for Gippsland is worthwhile What are the benefits that establishing such a centre would deliver to Gippsland ? Is there a role for making collections digital ? What type of heritage, archives and collections you interact with and consider important ? Where/how the heritage and collections are stored ? What services should such a centre offer ? Why? What skills or training are needed to enable this? Should the centre actively seek to attract tourists ? Which themes or aspects of an archive and discovery centre would be of interest to tourists ? Please don’t end there, please include whatever you think is important in your submission and let anyone else you know about the project and ask them to make a submission also. The more submissions, the better the outcome ! A website has been set up to provide further background and to lodge submissions. Please go to: https://www.gaidc.com.au/ and lodge a submission Once submissions have been received, the advisory group will undertake further engagement to ensure your voice is heard during the development of this project.
25.01.2022 Sending a huge Thank You to all our Volunteers at PowerWorks. You have all given so much time and effort to showcasing the history of our region, to educating and myth busting, to supporting our community. You are all appreciated! It has been fantastic to be able to welcome some new faces to our Board this year too. We have some huge challenges ahead (not least the 2.5 tonne piece of machinery due to be delivered!!!) but we will face them together and hopefully soon we will be able to re-open. Thank you all.

11.01.2022 PowerWorks Plans for Re-Opening The PowerWorks Board met this week to look at a schedule for re-opening. There are two areas: 1. Private Functions and Conferences. We are now able to accept bookings for private functions and conferences under a COVID safe plan. Groups of up to 10 can be accommodated. 2. Tours for General Public: These will start again in 2021. It was thought that some extra time was needed to prepare for this, particularly since a lot of our visitors ar...e interstate and overseas. Volunteer Opportunities The Board and Volunteers are now looking to take the time to do maintenance, repairs and upgrades both inside and outside. Volunteers are always needed and most welcome - it is quite a sizeable facility, particularly the grounds which do need quite a lot of work. Please contact us if you are interested.
