18.01.2022 This painting by Navajo artist Jerry Lee is one example of the various types of artwork that will be available during the Native Treasure’s Collectors’ Sale beg...inning October 23, 2020. Jerry Lee, who also signs his work under his name Hosteen Nez, was born in 1944 on the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona. Lee also studied under Navajo artist Beatien Yazz who was well known for his contemporary paintings that focused on everyday Navajo life using fine lines. Artwork by both Lee and Yazz has been displayed in numerous museums across the Southwest and nationwide. Most of Lee’s well known paintingsincluding this oneuse gouache paint, a type of paint similar to watercolor but designed to be more opaque. Gouache is at least 1200 years old and its brilliant colors contribute to what makes Lee’s art so vibrant and unique. Lee’s paintings often offer a beautiful glimpse into the daily lives of Navajo people as well as show snapshots of desert wildlife and landscape. Lee’s art is just one example of what can be found during the 2020 MIAC Collectors’ Sale. A preview ofthe Collectors’ Sale will be on October 18, 2020 followed by the actual sale from October 23-25, 2020. To learn more visit: www.bidpal.net/collectorssale See more
