21.01.2022 ACTIVE LEARNING: Did you know that the best way to learn is through active learning? Instead of just listening to lessons being delivered, active learning involves discussion, being pushed in critical thinking, problem-solving and real-life connections. Active learning promotes deep understanding student engagement and empowerment and better exam results. While most other tuition centres are moving to a passive online learning course during the COVID-19 restrictions, we are... committed to maintaining our active learning model in the online environment for all of our students. More than ever, we are encouraging students to put their hands up participate in class discussions, ask questions and provide them with memorable examples WHILE content is delivered. As always, we actively follow each students progress, revising concepts with them on a regular basis, making sure they understand Come and learn with us! 19.01.2022 Its great when students find a good series to dig into... but its even better to find something new and exciting to read. This list is great for students year 2 - 4, especially those who have finished reading the Treehouse series!
18.01.2022 In the past week, we have talked to parents who have been concerned about an article published in the Sydney Morning Herald. (LINK BELOW) It discussed potential changes to the format of the Selective Schools Test. Many other tutoring colleges rely on the multiple-choice format to teach students to work backwards from possible answers (i.e. guess and check methods). ... However HERE, we always have and always will continue to teach students UNDERSTANDING. Our students learn problem-solving by tackling the concepts of questions front-on. They dont need to see the multiple-choice options to find the correct answer. If these proposed changes were to take effect, we believe it would only work to advantage our students over others. Were not sweating, and neither should you! https://www.smh.com.au//parents-coaching-industry-sweat-on

This includes daily cleaning of surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectant, distancing students as much as possible and ensuring all students wash their hands with soap regularly while they are in our care. Keep safe and healthy everyone! We will continue to post major updates on this Facebook page. Thank you

04.01.2022 An interesting way to think about selective schooling: "Things like curriculum acceleration helping a student move through the curriculum at a faster rate or pace to help meet where they are at developmentally have a really strong support base [in evidence]... In sport or creative arts it happens all the time. Some of our top sportspeople will go onto representative programs; its not uncommon to see teenage boys and girls, talented young athletes, training and playing with adults because thats the level of competition they require to develop." We tend to agree. Sometimes schools lack the time, skill or financial resources to develop gifted students. By providing a challenging program outside of school like ours, students can realise their full learning potential.
03.01.2022 The Selective high schools minimum entry scores have also been published! Its great to see that many of our now year 7 students scored very well to clear these entry scores. This year, our year 5s have already begun eyeing their sights on some of these schools... If you know anyone who is looking at Selective high school options, contact us today! James Ruse remains the most competitive school to gain entry for the 4th year running, with North Sydney Boys as the most compet...itive all-boys school and Hornsby Girls as the most competitive all-girls school by an inch.
