23.01.2022 Our members know that there’s no such way they can slack off when they’re working out at home . We use Power as a way to measure energy/power being produced during ergo sessions. Are you thinking: what the hell is Power? ... Power is work over time. It is a measure of effort (in watts) that is measured on the console. We measure their 5 minute effort in watts and then calculate 8 different training zones based around that! Pretty amazing! Right? Measuring Power does not tell us how it was produced and how much energy it required from the 'engine' so we also use Heart Rate measures to help us cross-correlate the power output with the energy cost. This means our trainers can ensure that members training at home are working in the right zone and we also teach (and emphasise!) to not always pay attention to HR because it’s affected by so many aspects food, sleep, coffee, stress, fatigue the list goes on. These tools and methods help us know more and step away from guessing. If you’re doing intervals or HIIT, you really need to know your numbers and not assume. 21.01.2022 We know you love hearing our thoughts on #dietculture and #dietsofinstagram so today we’re going to share some of Søren’s honest thoughts on #rawtill4. For those of you who may not know about the raw till 4 diet, it is basically a way to cut calories. All of these types of diets are just a way to reduce your caloric intake that has become a cult-like - in all honesty! The rules around food have become so stringent that following these sorts of diets is highly unrealistic for ...long term success or health, and again we really need to relax our approach to food. In theory, I couldn’t agree more about some of the aspects around staying away from processed foods, but I disagree with the content. It is impossible and also highly unrealistic to eat 8 bananas for breakfast, or 6 mangos for lunch. There is no real scientific reason to not eat cooked food until after 4. The body is very adaptable and clever we can throw the worst crap down our throats and for a long time get away with it. The same would be the case here, we can eat real natural food for a long time, but the lack of protein would concern me. I don’t buy the whole ‘it’s better for the environment’ because just as many animals are killed, from farming. There is no solution for the CO2, loss of animal lives, when we live on an overcrowded planet. Although micro nutrients may be minimally affected (apart from B12) but basic amino acid needs will be deficient. You just can't get the same level of amino acids from plant based products, so you would need to supplement. What are your thoughts on the raw till 4 diet? 13.01.2022 The mornings are getting colder, the days are getting shorter and it’s getting harder to get out of bed early in the morning . In the fitness industry, this is the EXACT pattern we see time and time again. The colder weather approaches and we gravitate towards our cave and hibernate for the winter period.... The flowers start blooming and the sum becomes a little brighter, and we realise summer is only around the corner. It’s not time to work on our ‘summer body’. We then go into this cycle of intense periods of high intensity workouts everyday, calorie restricting, and then - burnout. Put in the effort NOW. You don’t have to absolutely tire yourself or burn yourself out, instead you just have to focus on showing up each day with the intention of maintaining your health.
