24.01.2022 From January to July this year I had the privilege and honour to work with the refugee community in Nauru. My role was a mix of Economic and Community Development in a short period of time we achieved some quite remarkable results. Increasing the number of refugees in employment from just over 200 to nearly 400 (this represents nearly 50% of the refugee community), increasing the number of refugee businesses from 6 to 23, establishing a work experience program primarily foc...used on young refugees who through life circumstances have only had limited to no opportunity to be employed. A hydroponics project that is now producing fresh vegetables. A Customer Service training event requested and opened by the President of Nauru. Along with a host of wonderful events and activities that provided some relief and joy for the refugee community and recognised key cultural and religious events. Due to a confidentiality deed I am unable to talk about life on Nauru, suffice to say if I did you would be shocked and horrified. Hopefully it will soon all come to an end. It was a journey that I will never forget, one that has made me stronger and changed me forever. I worked with many wonderful people: refugees, Nauruans and ex-pats. The resilience, gratitude and sheer beauty in the hearts of the refugee community is one that I will always be astounded by, it truly was a privilege and an honour to meet, work with and get know such wonderful people.

22.01.2022 During September 2016 I was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in Pollinate Energys Professional Fellowship Program (PFF) in India. Pollinate provides live changing products to people living in the slums in India via a social enterprise model. They are currently operating in 4 cities - Bangalore, Hyderbad, Kolkata and Lucknow. The PFF that I undertook was in Kolkata. What a fantastic experience!! At times quite confronting but at all times a great learning exper...ience, made even better by having a great bunch of Fellows from all over the world - Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, Finland and Hong Kong, plus the Indian Fellows and local Indian Pollinate staff and our two great Team Leaders Matteo and Julia from Italy and Spain. The Fellowship was a mix of working on a specific project and visiting the communities each afternoon / evening with the Pollinators who sell the products to the people living in the slums. The project I was involved with focused on testing a new cook stove that reduces the smoke being emitted by approx. 80% and the amount of wood being used by approx 50% - thereby having huge health and financial benefits to community members. Pollinate runs the Professional Fellowship Programs a number of times per year. If you are looking for something different, want to see India first hand and contribute to an amazing organisation/program then do the Fellowship!! I highly recommend it :) For further info re Pollinate and the Fellowship programs go to www.pollinateenergy.org See more
