18.01.2022 In early August 2020 we were able to undertake fieldwork for a Cultural Heritage Management Plan at Hitchcock Avenue, Barwon Heads. The report has now been submitted for assessment to the Aboriginal community. It was the first day of having to wear masks in the City of Greater Geelong, and it was not easy to stick to it. But everyone did fine, and we have since had a few more weeks to get used to it. No great selfies though :)

13.01.2022 On June 26, 2020, we were able to visit the recently uncovered shipwreck Amazon (1863) which is located on the beach at Inverloch. The shipwreck has been variously exposed over a long period of time, and is monitored by a team of enthusiastic locals. Liam Phillips (Heritage Victoria) and Callum Harvey, undertook some photogrammetry on this day, where a lot of the wreck site had been exposed. It is amazing to see a shipwreck up close, and above water :)

11.01.2022 Its been almost a year now since we started the background work at Blunts jetty, Williamstown, to get a Consent application approved to replace most of the 1920s jetty. We have just completed the photographic recording (Oct) and the monitoring of Elstones Diving Services removal of the jetty (November). The photographs below show recording and monitoring.

10.01.2022 Last weekend, Pete and I piggy backed on Callum's fieldwork trip to Griffiths Island, Port Fairy. Wonderful place any time of year. We had to get there before the Muttonbirds (Shearwaters) came back to their burrows, and we just snuck in, as the Permit had just come in from the Shire of Moyne. The island is a reserve, with Muttonbird rookery over most of it. There is also an Historic Lighthouse at the eastern point (1850s), but prior to Rabbit Island, Goat Island and Griffiths Island becoming one, there was a whaling station at Rabbit Island, and then at Griffiths Island (1830s). It was the latter of these that is the subject of Callum's Masters thesis at Flinders Uni. I wont put any pics up of what he found though...that wouldnt be fair.
