21.01.2022 Lots of kids are anxious about what is currently happening in the world. This anxiety is often based on lack of information or receiving too much information and not being able to put it in perspective. These are some examples of visuals, which you can use to explain to your kids in simple terms what is happening and what the expectations are, which hopefully will reduce some of the anxiety and confusion. Please contact Practical Behaviour Solutions if you have specific needs or questions relating to this difficult time of Corona virus and social isolation, which we might be able to help you with. Think about development of social stories, visuals, a holiday routine, etc. Stay safe and healthy!

21.01.2022 SUPPORT WORKER WANTED I have a client in Southport who is in need of a support worker on school mornings (before school hours) and in the weekends. It concerns a 7-year-old boy diagnosed with an Intellectual Impairment and Autism. He is non-verbal and needs help with self-care tasks and communication. ... We would like to improve his independence regarding self-care and communication and are in need of an active support worker, who is excited about achieving small positive changes. The support worker needs to be creative, outgoing and able to support mother and son on outings. If you are interested, please message me and I can get you into contact with this lovely mum. She can give you more information about the position and the hours available.

19.01.2022 The necessity of setting boundaries: Every child is looking for their parents boundaries. Having firm boundaries makes children feel sale. Feeling safe is necessary to be able to develop the necessary insights and skills to move forward to the next developmental stage.... If children dont get those boundaries they will grow up but get stuck in the developmental stage of a 2/3-year-old. These people grow into adults being dependent on their parents, have a high sense of entitlement and take limited responsibility for their actions and behaviour. Im of the opinion that not setting boundaries creates the narcissists of the future. There is a difference between wants and needs. Parents dont want to see their kids upset and therefore tend to attend to their wants. Often however this is not in the best interest of the child. The child needs to learn to stand on their own 2 feet and become more and more independent. A child will slowly need to be exposed to demands and disappointments in life to be able to deal with bigger demands and disappointments later on in life. If we dont set boundaries, dont allow children to grow up and be independent, we are setting them up to fail.

19.01.2022 To all people on my waitlist, Thanks so much for your patience. We will get to you as soon as we can. It might take a while though as the amount of new clients coming through is higher than I can manage.... Im really trying to see as many clients as possible and get to you as quickly as possible. If you are on my waitlist, please be patient. Its no use calling us as we cant provide you with an approximate wait time. The wait time depends on the amount of files that can be closed and the space available in the area you are in. Its impossible to put a time to it. Once youre in, youre in and I will give you my all. As per today we wont be calling back people, who are already on the waitlist. We will get to you, but we cant provide you with a timeframe. We recommend all people on the waitlist to work with other professionals in the meantime. Please feel free to let us know if our services arent needed anymore by the time we will get to you or preferably beforehand. We have tried to train other people to assist with client work within the practice, however we havent found anybody suitable. We still have a position available as Behaviour Specialist and we are open to work with the right people. So far, no luck! Thanks so much for your patience and please know we do everything we can to get to you as soon as possible, without compromising on the support provided to existing clients.

17.01.2022 Request to all my (previous) clients: Would you be able to provide Practical Behaviour Solutions with a review/recommendation and score on Facebook please? Good or bad, it is important to me that possible future clients know what our service is all about and what to expect from us. Please provide information on your experiences for example regarding: - Friendliness ... - Approach - Effectiveness - Punctuality - Flexibility - Professionalism - etc. If you have had previous previous experiences with other professionals in the field it would be great if you could outline what is different about our service in comparison to others. Thanks in advance!!

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, Please get on board and support Sueanne in this great cause!

16.01.2022 Please watch this very touching video. Next time when your child acts angrily and aggressive, please understand that it is likely due to high levels of anxiety and needs a lot of love, attention and trust to manage the things he/she finds difficult. NB: NO, I am NOT saying that your child is like a dog or that you are neglecting your child

13.01.2022 To renew my NDIS registration, my sole traders business needs to get certified. This is going to cost over $5,000!!! (This is next to yearly AASW fees and additional Medicare fees, income tax and professional development costs that come with a private practice). I can only do that, if I start claiming realistic amounts for my Behaviour Support Reports, which take me about 8 to 10 hours to write. Shall I renew my NDIS registration and increase the price of my very detailed and high quality Behaviour Support Reports?

13.01.2022 Another funny NDIS fact.... I have recently attended several planning meetings with the NDIS in Queensland for my clients. Together with the parent or registered carer of the minor with a disability, information was provided to the NDIS assessors for them to be able to appoint an NDIS budget. When funds was eventually allocated and the parent needed to fill in an access code online to be able to access the budget, they werent able to. ... They had to call the NDIS to ask for an access code and were told that due to the privacy act they were unable to provide information about their childs NDIS budget When asked how that is possible considering the child is a minor with a disability about whom we already had a 2 hour conversation based on their invitation (!), they kept repeating that they are guided by the disability act and blablabla. These parents and carers now need to go back to the NDIS office to proof that they are who they say they are. Wouldnt it be more effective to make this part of the assessment process??? See more

10.01.2022 Dr Phil calls it Commando Parenting! Thats what were about in case of extreme behaviour! https://www.drphil.com/advice/parenting-through-change/

10.01.2022 When we dont know what is going to happen we are more likely to get anxious. This is particularly the case for people with information processing issues. To reduce anxiety they will often ask questions (repetitively) such as: Where are we going? How long are we going to stay for? Who else is going to be there?... What are we going to eat?, etc. #repetitivequestioning #anxiety #predictability

09.01.2022 And suddenly we are fully NDIS registered for Behaviour Support, Early Childhood Supports and Therapeutic Supports ... in Qld and NSW!!!

09.01.2022 Private hire by family https://au.indeed.com/m/viewjob

07.01.2022 Practical Behaviour Solutions is now NDIa registered and has been approved in Queensland for the following NDIS supports: Specialised Behaviour Intervention Therapeutic Supports Early Childhood Intervention... This means that we are now able to serve people who have and NDIA-managed budget, a plan-managed budget or a self-managed budget in Queensland. Next step: full NDIS registration in New South Wales. Working on it!

07.01.2022 I regularly get the request from families and organisations to get registered for the NDIS in NSW so that people with an agency managed budget in NSW can access my services. In Queensland I am already registered with the NDIS. After working on my NSW application for a few nights I submitted it and shortly after I received a letter that I had to undergo a third party verification audit as that is a requirement for new providers in NSW.... I contacted all audit companies and asked for a quote. To get the audit done they charge over $6000!!! I am a sole trader with a receptionist, work mobile (and dont have an office to assess), all my policies and procedures are on paper and can be read in an hour but all companies claim to take 4 full days to assess my business. So... PBS is not going to get registered for the NDIS in NSW. We can provide services to people in Qld who have: - an agency managed budget - a plan managed budget - a self-managed budget ... and to people in NSW, who have : - a plan-managed budget - a self-managed budget If you have an agency managed budget in NSW and still would like to use our services I would recommend changing your budget to plan-managed or go through Medicare. Please call our reception for any questions: 0479 036 407

06.01.2022 Do your children play the sick-card on you ? Want to avoid this battle? My advice: make it as measurable as possible.... The only reason for staying home from school is when you are sick. You are sick when: - you have a temperature of 37 degrees or above , - you are vomiting, - you have unmanageable diarrhoea - you have a head cold and are coughing and sneezing - you have a condition, which is contagious . If not having (and proving) one of the above, you will have to go to school.

05.01.2022 Something simple like making contact can be very complicated for people with special needs. This visual might help them understand what to do and what to say.

05.01.2022 https://www.weforum.org//this-is-why-dutch-teenagers-are-a We Dutchies just know what we are talking about! Trained in the Netherlands I do have a different approach to most Australian organisations and Mental Health professionals.... We look at the whole system, family relationships and what certain problems mean to the person and the family. I dont care as much about the diagnosis but more about the needs involved. We focus on meeting needs without judgement. For any enquiries, please call our reception on 0479 036 407 See more

05.01.2022 After writing an extensive Behaviour Support Report, I received this beautiful message from a thankful mum. This made my day! My biggest reward is when you as parents find more connection with your beautiful children

05.01.2022 People who are anxious have a greater need to control their environment. #anxiety #controllingbehaviours #repetitiveness

04.01.2022 Controlling behaviours are mostly due to anxiety, which is often caused by lack of predictability. Lets not focus solely on the controlling behaviours but mainly focus on whats causing it. Increasing predictability creates a structural behaviour change. #increasepredictability #reduceanxiety #reducecontrollingbehaviours

03.01.2022 Anger is a symptom, NOT the problem. Let a therapist come to your home and assess the family dynamics and communication. There are always unmet needs underlying angry behaviours! #angermanagement #unmetneeds #therapy

03.01.2022 Do you have a child with an ODD diagnosis? Please check out this whiteboard animation to check out what this means. This video was uploaded on YouTube before (with more than 15,000 views) but accidentally deleted :(
