21.01.2022 Decoding XPLAN Jargon: What does asynchronously, concatenate & stack trace have in common? They are all words #XPLAN use which are not part of our normal vocabulary. Yes asynchronously is actually a word! It means keep working away, im just working on your request in the background. When you get this message, you can move XPLAN pages, grab a coffee, chat to a colleague. Your report will become available via the XPLAN envelope in due course. When you dont see this message (eg. Portfolio Reports), dont move XPLAN screens. Instead of an envelope message you will get a downloadable file pop-up on your screen.

17.01.2022 XPLAN TRAP: Today we came across an XPLAN trap when emailing a Partner entity on XPLAN. An adviser was sending a report out via email using the XMERGE feature. The report was being emailed once to their client and then again to the partner. Because of the way XPLAN records items such as Asset and Liabilities, Income and Expenses with the owner referencing client or partner and not a specific name, the report coding didnt hold up when you emailed the partner. The names ...were switched. After looking into the logic behind the code, and understanding that when you email the Partner, they become the client. We were able to make their code more robust and work under both scenarios. The coding in their report wasnt ours originally, but we would have coded this exactly the same way. Which suggests there would be plenty of other merge reports which would be affected including Reverse Fact Finds. A timely reminder to always test your templates under all situations. 16.01.2022 I am (usually) incredibly diligent when it comes to clicking a link in an email, but a recent phishing email posing as the ATO got through & I clicked. The only thing that triggered me to stop and close my browser, was realising the email address it was sent to wouldnt be registered with the ATO. Realising my mistake, I closed my browser, cleared my cache & ran a scan on my computer. Fingers cross nothing bad with come from this, but a timely reminder that even if we are diligent, emails can outsmart us, & we need to ensure our Cyber Security Software is in place and kept up to date. 16.01.2022 XPLAN Hack: To view the accuracy of your datafeeds, check out your report. Under System Datafeeds > Reporting > Adviser Summary. Here you can view the % of clients that balance in IRESSNet and how many balance on your site. From here you can also rectify any datafeed issues.
