25.01.2022 The weather down here has not been kind for finishing off our Mud Slide. But we are working on it today and it will be ready at 11am Saturday morning for lots of muddy fun.

If I was a child todays highlight would have been worki...ng out how to build a bridge where an old bridge used to be so that I could cross over the winter creek. Thats what the children did this morning. Supported by Kylie, Smith and Ben the children made it to the other side. Such challenge, such fun so much learning. See more

19.01.2022 I have been designing natural playgrounds for a few years now but being able source the materials and develop the plan past the paper is something I have not ha...d the chance to do. Natures Atelier does not need much as the natural habitat provides an abundance of earth, trees, plants and loose parts to create with. One of the missing elements is rock. So I have been rock hunting in the local area and found a wonderful range to choose from. Next week we will start to enhance our outdoor space so that the granite boulders will have settled in the environment by the time the children arrive to explore.

18.01.2022 Natures Atelier Team met at the magical property today and planned for the Sneak Peek event. We explored the wet lands, the mud and the newly built hills with ...some children and saw first hand how engaged they were in the space. 18.01.2022 Another incredible day at the Practical Wisdom for Leaders Conference in Bali! Daniel and Trudi presented a keynote presentation to inspire the use of outdoor ...spaces as integrated, child centred learning spaces. They were inspired by Toni Christie from Childspace Early Learning in ways to support their team with compassionate leadership. Daniel also delivered a workshop on Sensory Risk Taking and challenged the educators to explore clay with their feet!

16.01.2022 Natures Atelier is working to support the children in a refugee camp on the island of Samos in Greece. We will be connecting to a project developed by Alise Sh...afer to create a safe space for children and families to have respite from the stress of living in a refugee camp with thousands of other families. Alise had asked if we could send some dolls beds for their dolls house so today our Bush Discovery children made the Nest some dolls beds and wrote some letters to the children in the space.Tia McAuliffe is travelling to Samos next week to volunteer in the project for six weeks and will also assist the children to celebrate International Mud Day on the 29th of June. Children at Natures Atelier will be celebrating Mud Day with mud slides, painting trees with mud and many more activities. 13.01.2022 Children love to play in mud. And refugee children are no exception. This weekend, children (and adults) from around the world will participate in WORLD MUD DAY... experiences. Exploring, bathing and playing in mud, clay and sand, humans from vastly different life circumstances will let go and experience the messiness, joy and connectedness that elements of our Earth provide. Thank you to our long-time friends Natures Atelier, Tia and Gillian McAuliffe, World Forum Foundation, and our partners at Action for Education for coordinating this meaningful experience and fundraiser for the women and children who visit our Nest in Samos. 10.01.2022 Well we pulled off a successful conference that connected people across Oceania and South East Asia to discuss leadership and to Play. A huge thank you to all the presenters and to all the delegates. To the staff of Alam Atelier and ISmile, you showed us true hospitality and love. Thank You. Today I was delighted to see that some of the delegates had returned to the school to give back to the children will music and light and shadow and love. Thank you Robby and David McGarvey, Catherine and Peter Morgan and Trudi Bennett and Daniel Burton.

The beds have arrived with Tia and she reports that the children love to play with them. Empathy and understanding are such important values for us to foster. 06.01.2022 Being aware and taking practical steps is something we need to do. In Bali the plastic problem is urgent. But the community is responding. In Alam Atelier School the mission to reduce plastic waste has been a focus of the children for nearly two years. Educating our children to love the earth is more urgent than it ever has been.
