22.01.2022 Just some of the impacts we know childhood trauma has on developing brains. The better we understand this, the more effective we can be as a whole community in responding therapeutically. Schools in particular would benefit from training in the effects of trauma

21.01.2022 This is so true!

14.01.2022 Please be reassured that none of our staff or patients have presented as unwell, or meet criteria for high risk groups (ie. recent overseas travel) If you are experiencing any symptoms of being unwell, we ask that you let us know immediately so that we can discuss options with you so that you can still access your psychology service in some way. Similarly, should any of our staff show any signs of being unwell, we will contact you to discuss your options to still access your psychology service.

11.01.2022 Describing a child’s behaviour as attention seeking has very negative connotations and encourages us to either ignore, or respond in a punitive manner. If a child is in need of attention, they are expressing a need. A better option is to identify and respond to that need!

08.01.2022 Hello to all our PPS patients and families! As health service providers, we would like to check in with you all that you’re doing ok during these trying times, and also to let you know of the measures we are taking to keep you all, and our staff, safe and well. Being an essential health care service, we remain open for face-to-face consultations, and maintain that personal psychology sessions are the most effective delivery method for our clients. However, we are taking hea...lth recommendations very seriously and have made many changes to our processes to minimise any chances of any contamination. To reduce the length of this message, I’ll document the specific steps we are taking in separate posts, but please be confident that we are insisting that the regulations on social distancing and hygiene are being followed. Although we have these measures in place, we recognise that, for some clients, face to face services may not be an option. Please give us a call to discuss what other services, such as Telehealth, may be available in your circumstances. Rather than cancel your appointments, please feel free to give us a call so we can discuss any concerns you have, and figure out options that may be available to you. REMEMBER, WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, and WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS

05.01.2022 TELEHEALTH at PPS Given the current situation, we are exploring options for conducting sessions via Telehealth, so you can access your therapist from your own home. Currently, Medicare funding for Telehealth is limited to people who meet certain criteria (ie. age, immunodeficiency, pregnancy, etc) although we do expect this may change in the near future. NDIS and other funding sources are showing more flexibility around the funding of Telehealth services. Please feel free to call and discuss what options may be available to you regarding Telehealth.

04.01.2022 Hygiene at PPS: *Therapists are washing their hands thoroughly between sessions *Patients are also requested to wash their hands on arrival, before entering the consultation room (the kids seem to be enjoying washing their hands alongside their therapist!) *Admin staff wash their hands frequently... *Hand sanitiser is available for use as needed *All toys and magazines have been removed from the waiting room *All rooms and equipment are sanitised regularly *Payments can be contactless or arranged over the phone with a credit card, as required See more

04.01.2022 Social Distancing at PPS: *We are adhering to the 4sqm per person rule *Waiting room chairs have been placed appropriate distances apart, as well as outside in our undercover areas *If patients and their families prefer to wait in their car, they are welcome to call and let us know of their arrival and we’ll come out to get them... *Patients will enter through the waiting room and exit through the front door, to prevent any ‘bottlenecks’ *If a consultation room is considered too small for the people present, as per the 4sqm rule, your therapist will move the session to an alternative space See more

02.01.2022 Being emotionally healthy and mindful isn’t about being happy all the time, or never having negative feelings, it’s about knowing how to handle an unwanted visitor
