24.01.2022 As part of National Reconciliation Week, we are proud to be sharing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. Guided by Reconciliation Australia’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) framework, we are taking a strategic approach to advancing reconciliation in our organisation. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan encourages us to deliver services and other support which respect the cultural rights, values and expectations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, and identify opportunities to sustainably embed reconciliation right across Uniting. We thank everyone for their contribution and acknowledge particularly the guidance and support provided by the Aboriginal members of the RAP Working Group.

19.01.2022 Victoria is once again entering a lockdown because of levels of COVID-19 in our community. Many of our services are considered essential and will continue to operate. This includes our early learning childcare centres and kindergartens, residential facilities, alcohol and other drug programs, support to those experiencing homelessness, family violence and those in need of emergency relief. Our meal programs will be take-away only until the end of the lockdown. We understand how hard it is to return to lockdown and we will do our bit to make this time as short as possible.

18.01.2022 For 15 years, Sue has volunteered with our Winter Breakfast program in Prahran. Each week, she serves up hot breakfasts to people unable to access food. Prior to retiring 2 years ago, Sue says the role perfectly suited her busy working life.

12.01.2022 On National Sorry Day, we remember and commemorate the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by government policies, which resulted in a Stolen Generation of Aboriginal children who were separated from their families. We acknowledge the great suffering caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the ongoing impacts.
