18.01.2022 Is there a skill to running? YES and NO Yes, only elite athletes with high Training age have mastered the skill by consistent running and participating in number of marathons. So, essentially it is a skilled activity where things like stride length, cadence, footwear, diet, hydration and environment matters.... But no, anyone who wants to run must be encouraged as this is the only activity that needs minimal learning and equipments. IF you are a novice runner, a weekend warrior, or an avid runner. A few tips to REMEMBER to reduce training injuries 1. The 10% rule to increase your loads 2. Mix up your training programs using long slow runs with tempo runs (80:20 rule- Pareto principle) 3. Do not forget to include the Strength & Conditioning program Do share more of your personal tips! #praxisrehabphysio #runninginjuries

15.01.2022 Welcome to Praxis Rehab Physiotherapy!

14.01.2022 As Musculoskeletal Physios, we regularly meet people narrating their story of pain because their scans told them that they have a ‘L4-5, L5-S1 disc bulge’ or that it is ‘bone on bone in the knee’ or ‘bursa pinching in the shoulder’ etc. For some people, it could be true and quite clinically relevant to their history of pain and its progression but in the vast majority, it is considered NORMAL or even AGE-APPROPRIATE ‘radiological findings’. 10.01.2022 As a receiver of treatment, YOU the patient have % say in your journey to recovery and WE as therapists must advocate a collaborative approach with YOU in this journey to help you achieve your goals and motivate you to get there. YOU and I work as a team. It requires hard work, consistency and discipline from both of us. Hands-on approach or a piece of exercise sheet is considered useless if not applied properly. As a PATIENT, you have a right to DEMAND the right approach!

10.01.2022 Together we make change!

08.01.2022 A movement doesn’t need to be rocket science and can be as simple as ‘getting in and out of bed’. Often we forget our basics and want to plunge into complex activities. Strengthen your foundation to build your resilience!

06.01.2022 Yes!!! ‘Loading’ is THE KEY to recovery. Don’t stop being active. Find the ‘just right’ balance between doing too little or too much.

01.01.2022 Sure, lifting weights and throwing around medicine balls is can be made fun, but fitness must be useful/ transferable OUTSIDE of the gym. Whether it is lifting and playing with kids, getting on and off the floor, helping a friend move, or just looking to improve your vocabulary of movement. As the women here would know, the human body undergoes several stages of change before and after pregnancy. No two bodies recover exactly the same either- this means we all have a differ...ent capacity to move comfortably with or without pain. Learning a new movement is like learning a new LANGUAGE. To begin with, your vocabulary is limited, the grammar is imperfect, the confidence to speak with a native speaker is poor and thinking in that new language is too challenging to even try! It takes repeated practice and exploring your boundary of movement until you ultimately achieve THOUGHTLESS and FEARLESS movement. Are you ready to make some moves in 2020?
