They were formed with "green" geopolymer concrete of recycled aggregates and pozzolans; and incorporate a network of tubing through which the cooling/heating water for the HVAC is circulated - the concrete acting as a heat/coldsink thermal mass. 10.01.2022 Quipolly Dam Upgrade, NSW. These precast "fusegates" are being unloaded prior to installation in the dam wall. Some of the biggest pieces of precast we have ever made - the "super-flow" concrete was pumped through the base of the closed mould - approx 4000x4000x6000. The gates have a hinged gate - somewhat like a cat-flap. As the water level rises in the dam, pressure forces the gate open, releasing excess water, then closes as the level falls - acting just like a "fuse"!... An extension to the adjacent Commonwealth Bank HQ - older folk would know the existing building as the model for the iconic CBA money box you used to receive when opening a new account! The job involves GRC (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete) coloured off-form cladding panels. More as the job progresses.
