25.01.2022 Congratulations Ms Michelsen! Recipient of a Half Blue Award, awarded for recognition of outstanding performance at a state level. In 2019, Ms Michelsen took home gold medals in patterns, power breaking and special technique, two silvers in sparring, and another bronze in power breaking!

25.01.2022 In Taekwon-Do we take an oath. Yesterday we put that commitment into action, doing the hard work needed to build a more peaceful world, with integrity, perseverance, and indomitable spirit out in spades. It’s not enough just to talk about it - right now we have an opportunity and an obligation to step up and show our emergency services and those affected by the fires that they haven’t been forgotten. Unfortunately a lot of the fireys are not even being provided with one meal ...a day - that’s how bad their conditions are. And, of course, thousands of people are having to leave their homes with nowhere to go. It is a devastatingly bad time. Yesterday we had teams on the ground at the Queanbeyan Tigers Club and at #slabsforheroes sorting, packing, and lifting boxes of donations to get much needed supplies to the RFS and evacuation centres down the coast. Jessica Wu, Keegan Knott, Tim Gregg, Noah Yim, Fiona Foley, Tim Dawson, Jack Dawson and Charlene Harris, not only did you donate supplies, you worked tirelessly all day in the hot sun and the spirit you showed was incredible. So proud to see our Precision family prepared to give up their time and get their hands dirty. Thank you also to Esther van Praag, Maile Jo and Guy Pedashenko for the supplies you donated, and to Henry Dwyer, Ben Serpell, Rachael Bryant and Tony Rauchbauer for your financial donations while you were out of town and unable to get in the proverbial trenches with us. If anyone would like to join our team tomorrow please let us know, as we will be doing it all over again. There is a job for everyone - if you’re not up for heavy lifting, you can sort the donations. It is immensely rewarding to see the kindness of strangers in action and watch a community come together to help people they've never even met. Even if you only have an hour to help, it still lessens the burden of the incredible people at #slabsforheroes who are working round the clock to pull off this amazing feat

24.01.2022 Congratulations Ms McCormick! Recipient of a Peter McCullagh Achievement Award which recognises the achievement by an individual across administrative achievement, outstanding contribution to their club, and/or sporting excellence. In 2019 Ms McCormick won gold in team patterns, silver in sparring, and three bronze medals in individual patterns, power breaking and special technique!

24.01.2022 Congratulations Ms Wu! Recipient of a Half Blue Award, awarded for recognition of outstanding performance at a state level. In 2019 Ms Wu won silver in sparring, and three bronze medals in individual patterns, team patterns and sparring!

24.01.2022 Check out today’s epic haul for the fireys and evacuation centres! Two shopping trolleys full, courtesy of generous donations from our Bai Rui friends in Queensland, Simon Kirkham and Christopher Smith (plus a little overflow from Ben Serpell... let’s just say maths is not our strong suit ). Mr Kirkham and Mr Smith were so keen to contribute they reached out to ask how they could help from so far away. Hearts of gold these gents Thank you to Coles Gungahlin Super Store... who gave us 5% off, and Pharmacy Select Gungahlin who gave us 20% off on another supplies run we did on Sunday, as well as discounted electrolytes today. It’s incredible to see such generosity from individuals and businesses alike, including the presence of the Australian Federal Police at The G Spot Canberra where Charlene Harris was volunteering, assisting with traffic control, and even getting their hands dirty unloading cars with supplies and packing the outgoing trucks. Meanwhile, Henry Dwyer was also in Gungahlin helping our furrier friends with the Australian Rescue Collective, another champion group who have been getting supplies down the coast for displaced animals. Another day, another awesome effort!

23.01.2022 It's time to show that, at Precision, we don't just talk the talk about values, we walk the walk. Our country is burning and the fires are causing total devastation - brave firefighters have given their lives leaving behind young families, over 1200 homes have been lost, and 7 people from the south coast alone have died since Wednesday. The toll it's taken on our wildlife is devastating. People at the south coast are being evacuated to the beach and being forced into the wate...r just to survive the fires. People are also getting trapped because power is out so communications are down, there's a shortage of petrol, food and water, and many of the roads out of towns are blocked. There are countless fires that remain uncontained so even with the devastation it's already wreaked, there is no end in sight. More homes and lives will be lost. The fires are expected to get worse on Saturday due to strong winds and high temperatures, so we're coordinating a supplies drop off outside ANU Sport tomorrow, Friday, 3 January at 10am and will then take the goods out to go to the RFS. They need water and soft drinks, dust marks, chap sticks or paw paw cream, hydrolyte, sunscreen, non-perishable canned food, toiletries, towels, pet food and baby wipes. Yes, it's inconvenient to leave the house in this heat and poor air to donate items, but some people have literally lost everything. At times like these we need to come together and put others' lives and welfare before our own comfort. We're asking people not to bury your heads in the sand about this. If you have surplus baked beans, bottled water, toiletries etc please consider donating them, and if you don't have these types of items please consider going out of your way to buy some and drop them off to us. 10am tomorrow outside ANU Sport. Think how much you would want someone to do this for you if you'd lost everything... It's time to put our values into action.

22.01.2022 TRAINING TONIGHT IS CANCELLED This is a literally unprecedented move for Precision, but due to the severe weather warnings for Canberra we've called off training this evening. Barely a month after the last storm we don't want anyone feeling obligated to attend training and putting their safety or cars at risk. For those of you who weren't yet aware, see: https://www.canberratimes.com.au//the-worst-kind-of-storm/ and keep safe!

21.01.2022 Dear Precision, friends, and family, A decision has been made to suspend training immediately until further notice. Disappointing as it is, after considering the advice from the government, the AIS and ANU over the last few days, it seems we have reached a critical threshold warranting the suspension of club activities. This includes regular training sessions, the introductory course, and all social activities associated with the Club....Continue reading

20.01.2022 Congratulations Mr Knott! Recipient of a Half Blue Award, awarded for recognition of outstanding performance at a state level. In 2019 Mr Knott won gold in sparring and special technique, silver in patterns, and bronze in sparring!

17.01.2022 Aaand it’s a wrap! Jessica Wu, Rachael Bryant and Charlene Harris finished up their work days by throwing in a few hours at #slabsforheroes to fill the hundreds of snack packs ordered by the RFS. It’s a nice change of pace from working on your PhD, lawyering or preparing pig farmers for the impending fires... and what a good cause Thank you for your commitment ladies!

17.01.2022 Congratulations Ms Bryant! Recipient of a Peter McCullagh Achievement Award which recognises the achievement by an individual across administrative achievement, outstanding contribution to their club, and sporting excellence. In 2019 Ms Bryant won gold in sparring, gold and silver in power breaking, silver in patterns, silver in special technique, and gold and silver in team patterns!

16.01.2022 Meet Mr Yim, aka Tigress. While he may be purring like a kitten one minute (see photo 2), he’ll take your head off the next (‘the pounce’ - see photo 3). There’s no doubt Tigress is an impressive opponent but he is also one of the most respectful students we have. Unfortunately for him, he was also this year’s grom... again. This big cat brought home five new toys - a gold, a silver and three bronze medals. United ITF Nationals (Sat, 26 Oct 2019):... - Patterns: bronze - Sparring: bronze Bai Rui Nationals (Sun, 27 Oct 2019): - Sparring: silver - Power breaking: gold - Special tech: bronze

16.01.2022 Introducing Ms Harris, aka Master Shifu. She makes her team take cold showers (aka bathe in the Pool of Sacred Tears), she trains them in the Sacred Hall of Warriors, and while she doesn’t actually carry a stick, she has been known to hit students with a pool noodle. The team laughed at the likeness in the movie Kung Fu Panda when Master Shifu said ‘Very good, students... if you were trying to disappoint me.’ But this time she is impressed. And proud, and feeling very, very honoured to have coached such a fantastic team to success in 2019. Master Shifu mainly took a backseat to coach but stepped in for team patterns, taking home a gold at the United ITF Nationals, and a silver at the Bai Rui Nationals. Now that her students have all made it past first round, Master Shifu has finally found inner peace...

16.01.2022 Another day, another 10 FULL TRUCKLOADS of supplies sent to the fireys and evacuation centres through the incredible One Stop Auto & Tyres. While Henry Dwyer, Rachael Bryant and Charlene Harris unloaded trucks from Sydney, packed boxes full of goodies and loaded the trucks with new supplies, Tim Gregg and Fiona Foley were with the Animal Rescue Collective getting fresh supplies into storage for distribution to the poor displaced animals. What an incredible team

14.01.2022 Fridays always were more about fun than about effectiveness... hope everyone dives into the weekend with as much vigour as Mr Hudson!

13.01.2022 We’ve three car loads of essentials going out to the RFS and another four students heading out to Mitchell to help with sorting, packing and lifting to bring much needed aid to the coast. Thanks for showing up when it’s needed Precision!

13.01.2022 Precision Taekwon-Do is going to DONATE all of the money from our recent Intro to Taekwon-Do course to Foodbank NSW & ACT! Unfortunately we had to cancel the course halfway through because of COVID-19, but what better way to stick it to the virus than by putting that money straight back into the community By making this donation, we will be helping those who ordinarily live hand-to-mouth, and who are having a particularly difficult time getting food and basic hygiene items in this time of high demand (panic buying). Take that, virus!

13.01.2022 Noah Yim, Tim Gregg, Charlene Harris and Tim Dawson have been helping the Queanbeyan Tigers Club sort and pack supplies to go to the RFS and fire victims for the last 3 hours. Now we’re off to join the rest of the team in Mitchell to do it all over again, with some trucks hopefully heading down the coast in the next few days. Amazing effort guys - so humbling watching the community come together to help those affected. GOOOO CANBERRA

12.01.2022 For anyone who's got a free hour or two, we're heading out to One Stop Auto & Tyres at 4/21 Iron Knob Street Fyshwick NOW to help sort clothing donations if you want to join

12.01.2022 Rachael Bryant and Charlene Harris spent their evening sorting clothing donations with these absolute legends at One Stop Auto & Tyres - they are no longer accepting clothes as the evacuation centres are full. However, they’re aiming to get another 10 trucks down the coast on Monday so keep the donations coming! In particular they need: - pocket radios - battery packs - battery charges for iPhones and Samsungs including car chargers - sunscreen... - baby formula - eye drops - P2 masks - sweet biscuits - small packets of chips - muesli bars - tinned tuna - nuts - noodles - packet cakes - coffee, tea and sugar - foam cups - ladies sanitary items - moisturizing cream - shavers and shaving cream They also need volunteers to help sort the incoming donations so if you’re free tomorrow, please head down to 4/21 Iron Knob Street and help these guys out! It’s not physically demanding work and it’s indoors with the air con These guys are making a fantastic effort operating around the clock, 7 days a week and they’re taking a financial hit just to get these supplies to the people who need it. Please guys, give up an hour of your day to pitch in so that these heroes can rest please share this to get the word around.

11.01.2022 Congratulations Mr Yim! Recipient of a Half Blue Award in recognition for outstanding performance at a state level. In 2019 Mr Yim won gold in power breaking, silver and bronze in sparring, and bronze medals in patterns and special technique!

10.01.2022 Congratulations Mr Dwyer! Winner of The Club Athlete of the Year award, which recognises an ANU Club member who has shown outstanding sporting performance and achievement for their club throughout the course of the year. In 2019 Mr Dwyer won gold in patterns, gold and silver in sparring, two silver medals in team patterns, and bronze in power breaking!

10.01.2022 Congratulations Ms Foley! Recipient of a Half Blue Award, awarded for recognition of outstanding performance at a state level. In 2019 Ms Foley represented Precision for the first time in two national tournaments back to back, taking out a gold and a silver in patterns, and two bronze medals in sparring!

09.01.2022 Earlier this month Precision Taekwon-Do joined the Queanbeyan Tigers Australian Football Club for their bushfire appeal - check out the colossal amount of goods donated! What a fantastic effort, and a real testament to what a local club with a heart of gold can pull off. Noah Yim, Tim Gregg, Tim Dawson and Charlene Harris were our hired guns. Thanks guys!

08.01.2022 Meet Mr Serpell, aka Viper. Viper may move stealthily and strike like a snake when sparring, but the best part was getting him to lie on a bench and strike a snake pose! Now that the tears of laughter have stopped (it’s okay, we’ll wait a little longer...) check out the action shots of one of our most explosive fighters and one of the hardest workers there is... Viper, accompanied by his impressive medal haul: five silvers and a bronze. United ITF Nationals (Sat, 26 O...ct 2019): - Sparring: silver - Power breaking: silver - Team patterns: silver Bai Rui Nationals (Sun, 27 Oct 2019): - Patterns: silver - Sparring: bronze - Team patterns: silver

07.01.2022 Aaaand it’s a wrap! Over the last 17 days we’ve featured each of the team members from our 2019 representative squad and we’ve had an absolute ball reliving the experience. Pictured here at the end of day one is the team (minus Gamora and Stan Lee) who, just 24 hours later, would be sporting 63 medals!!! It has been great to showcase the incredible talent we have here at Precision Taekwon-Do - talent brought about by hard work, grit and perseverance. Now where’s our next challenge at?!

07.01.2022 Our team was out helping the guys at One Stop Auto & Tyres and #slabsforheroes again yesterday. It makes us swell with pride to see how happy these guys are to give up their holidays to help perfect strangers, with one getting out there just 2 hours after landing from a trip to Europe, and two turning up in the awful smoke yesterday despite having asthma. Talk about selfless! We had six volunteers on the ground yesterday alone, accompanied by friends of Precision, Michelle At...kins, who put in some solid hours at One Stop Auto with us, and Amy Lawrie who donated a couple of bags full of food and toiletries. Big love to the Precision volunteer team, Tim Gregg, Keegan Knott, Fiona Foley, Rachael Bryant, Henry Dwyer and Charlene Harris, who have been at this for days. You are kind and compassionate people. A massive thank you to Slabs for Heroes and One Stop Auto for the incredible work they’re doing, and for giving people an opportunity and a way to help. And, of course, for the brave truck drivers going into dangerous territory just to get these supplies to where they’re needed. You guys are amazing.

06.01.2022 Uh, Henry Dwyer, do you have something to tell us?

04.01.2022 Charlene Harris, Jessica Wu and Rachael Bryant were at it again yesterday, putting together about 300 packs for the fireys at #slabsforheroes. Team work really does make the dream work these guys were absolutely flying! Sadly these volunteer fireys have already been at it for months and will be for months to come. Despite what the RFS has said about not having room for further donations, the reality on the ground is that many stations are not receiving/able to access tho...se supplies. #slabsforheroes have the benefit of actually meeting with the fireys and hearing what they need first hand. They are doing an incredible job getting the supplies to where they are actually needed, but they need the community’s continued generosity in donating these items: - chapsticks/paw paw cream - single use eye drops - lozenges - individual packets of tissues - wet wipes, razors - roll on deodorant - electrolyte drinks (Powerade, Gatorade etc) - fruit cups - muesli bars/breakfast bars - Le Snaks - small tins of tuna, baked beans and spaghetti with ring pulls - individual boxes of sultanas - small packets of biscuits and chips The supplies being donated are helping keep the fireys on their feet so they can continue making the sacrifices they are to keep us safe. So please chip in $20, even $10 to buy something on the list above and drop it off to 118 Lysaght St, Mitchell at the times listed on the #slabsforheroes page, or message Charlene and she can take it out there for you. Dig deep Canberra don’t forget these fires are on our doorstep too!

04.01.2022 Each year we nominate a number of our high achieving students for the highly coveted ANU sporting awards. ANU Sport are rolling out the results this week and we will be sharing their posts, so keep your eyes peeled today and tomorrow to see which Precision students have been lucky enough to receive awards! Thank you to our friends at ANU Sport for celebrating excellence in our sporting community and for recognising our students' remarkable achievements. We look forward to celebrating with you for a formal presentation once social distancing measures have been relaxed.

03.01.2022 If you can donate toiletries, towels, non-perishable foods, paw paw cream, sunscreen, pet food, baby wipes and the like, please meet us on North Road outside ANU Sport at 10am on Friday, 3 Jan. We’ll be loading our cars up and taking the supplies to the Queanbeyan Tigers Club who are coordinating a bulk delivery to the RFS and designated alternatives ahead of the worsening conditions on Saturday. Those items that can’t yet be stored will be delivered direct to the coast once ...the roads are open again. Mr P and Ms Harris did a $525 shop at Costco this afternoon (with Mr Serpell’s donation putting him there in spirit as well) and have a car full of supplies ready to go, plus all of this leaving from Harris HQ. In addition, a lot of our students have been putting their very treasured dollars towards supplies for the less fortunate and we look forward to seeing their generosity in action tomorrow. Very proud to see our team coming together in this time of need. If you can’t make it there tomorrow, please keep your eyes peeled as Ms Harris will be organising another drop off over the weekend in addition to setting up a fundraising appeal. Keep safe, think of others and let’s show our neighbours at our beloved south coast that we haven’t forgotten them and WON’T forget them while they try to survive, recover and eventually rebuild.

02.01.2022 Congratulations again to Ms Halas! Further recipient of a Peter McCullagh Achievement Award which recognises the achievement by an individual across administrative achievement, outstanding contribution to their club, and/or sporting excellence. In 2019 Ms Halas won two gold medals in patterns, two gold medals in power breaking, a gold and a silver medal in special technique, two silver medals in sparring, two silver medals in team patterns, and was awarded Runner-Up Overall Tournament Champion!

01.01.2022 Congratulations to Ms Halas! Winner of The Best Individual Performance of the Year award, which recognises an ANU student, member or club affiliate who has achieved outstanding results in respect to their performance at any sporting event, competition or throughout the course of the season. In 2019 Ms Halas won two gold medals in patterns, two gold medals in power breaking, a gold and a silver medal in special technique, two silver medals in sparring, two silver medals in team patterns, and was awarded Runner-Up Overall Tournament Champion!
