24.01.2022 Today we sadly said goodbye to Lucinda as she moves on to a new full time position but we welcome Carly into the office this week. Unfortunately we weren't able to go out for lunch but thanks to Pastaissimo they were about to supply delicious pizza and beer to the office. Spread out around the boardroom we were able to maintain social distancing .

14.01.2022 This one will be interesting to see play out. Hostplus members would be the worst hit from COVID-19 with so many hospitality jobs going. This results in a big slow down of incoming SG contributions and potentially many people requesting the $10,000 withdrawal. So terribly unlucky for that particular fund (maybe this is a good reason to not group all people from the same industry together in a fund). But, in my opinion, their balanced fund was never very balanced with a huge ...allocation to growth assets but they didn't call it that because they listed some of thier property holdings as defensive assets. So all up, very growth orientated and not much liquidity. Prior to the GFC, MTAA was the top of the lists of best performing balanced funds and it was because they had such a big allocation to growth assets, then it all went bad and I feel the similarities are just so simlar here. HostPlus has been a good performer during the good times simply because thier aggressive asset allocation. But performance will hurt trying to create liquidity at the moment. Just think about what happened with toilet paper when people thought they wouldn't be able to get toilet paper - I can only imagine what will happen now with HostPlus. From little problems big ones grow.
