25.01.2022 In 2014 the IGFA received this photograph from a member who had found it in an old family photo album. The fish was supposedly caught off Cuba in 1943 and weighed in over 200 pounds, but there was no additional documentation available to confirm.

18.01.2022 a message I received today from Jason Macgiveron Gday kevin, the fugiyama fluro strikes again! Got out today for a few hours, mels son got his first barrel sbt, 99kg clean on 24, I got another one boat side before pulling the hooks, will shoot some pics through, Chris (christopher) , first time out on the boat for 3 years, got sick,,,, ordinary day, 25kts , raining, swell at 1.7m + with breaking swell, lure was a pakula phantom rigged on 200lb running a twin hook shackle rig, 24kg gear, interesting the fluro was deep down its throat, no sign of damage to the fluro, and they have some mean sharp teeth.check it out at www.predatortackle.com.au

07.01.2022 Wow... today at the pier my friend Jack hooks up on a over 14 foot Mako shark, and then my rod next to his goes off and mine starts jumping and it is a 9 foot t...hresher, after 10 minutes of fighting his shark and it pulling him around it breaks off, the mako comes after my thresher and does this.... by far the most insane thing I have ever seen or heard of on a pier and nobody would ever believe me if I didnt have a video. Mako hung around the pier for a while swimming around with a thresher tail in its mouth along with another mako around 8 foot. See more

06.01.2022 I received these photos from Jonah after a conversation earlier today of some stud blue eye caught on our wire and 18/0 offset circles using eels as bait, whilst targeting swords in tasmainian waters to stop getting bitten off by sharks that usually starts to happen at this time of year. It makes you wonder as to how many other spiecies will take a bait on coated wire? I know snapper do as well as gummies and school shark, all are taken regularly off the 90 mile beach. 05.01.2022 I talked to Robert Meade today about hooks and leader for the next heavy tackle season off F.N.Q Rob fished 24 kilo stand up last season out of a 21 foot trailer boat and managed a few good fish including a estimated 400lb blue taken on a lure. not a bad effort at all
