But hear me out for a minute as I want to flip your thinking on it’s head. Forever the eternal optimist in life I see the opportunity every negative brings my way and so instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, why not look at the opportunities this presents for you as a proud Cairns Local. Let’s think about how we can support one another through these trying times. 1. Things will get back to normal soon, so breathe! 2. What is one action you can take today, tomorrow and in the coming weeks and months ahead to keep local businesses doors open. 3. If you had a holiday planned that has been cancelled and you’ve been issued with a refund or credit - ask yourself, where can I holiday locally and get the same level of relaxation I was hoping for, but keep my money spinning into the local economy? Don’t hold onto the money - spend it locally. You owe it to your town to do so. 4. It is inevitable that the Federal Government will have to throw more money at this situation - take comfort in knowing that this WILL happen as they continue to scale up their efforts. The last thing the Government wants is an avalanche of people losing their homes and sitting in the welfare system. Make your voice heard to your local Federal and State MPs so they know how best to support you and your family in these times. 5. STOP WHINGING and START SOLVING our collective problems. Think of new ways you can meet this challenge head on. It will only be for months, not years, so start planning and coming up with solutions NOW. Solutions, not problems is what our political leaders need to hear from you. . . . My family and I are doing our bit to support local businesses and keep their cashflow moving. What are you doing to support others? One thing I love about this region is how resilient we are. We have some of the Best Business Warriors in the world, take comfort in knowing that the leaders (both old and new) are rising up to this challenge. So let’s have each other’s backs instead of pulling one another down (that includes our politicians ... be kind people - they are doing their best in very trying circumstances) So Let’s Keep It In Cairns and ... 10.01.2022 what an absolutely immersive time this is....exactly as prescribed by the planets and cosmic committee....with its undulating ripples and being so hard hit collectively. This standstill is such a precious time to pray, to see human vulnerabilities, to experience first-hand glitches in the 'norms' of previous daily lives, to take a good long look inside to tap into some qualities that we learn to discern as helpful and positive (and hopefully pluck up enough courage to sift through all the less helpful / downright smelly qualities and ask for Amma's Grace to pleeeeeease de-weed, all the while getting a sense of how unnecessary and hindering some inner patterns/priorities have been). Something REALLY changes inside!
