24.01.2022 Have you ever seen a platypus in its natural habitat? They are shy little creatures, but our local guides know the best spots, and patience will be rewarded! Platypuses are one of the only two mammals in the world classed as monotremes, which means that they lay eggs instead of giving birth (the other ones are echidnas).... 18.01.2022 Montezuma Falls is Tasmania’s highest waterfall (104m), located near the peaceful town of Rosebery and a great addition to any visit to the West Coast. The name Montezuma the last Aztec Emperor of Mexico comes from the Montezuma Silver Mining Company, which was formed in 1891 and held leases on the northern slopes of nearby Mt. Dundas. Following a late 1800’s abandoned tramline, the trail makes its way through a scenic rainforest of sassafras, myrtle, and leatherwood and ...passes many points of interest highlighting the mining history of the area, including an open mine shaft just before the Falls. Once at the Falls a suspension bridge crossing the gorge below provides a brilliant viewpoint to witness the sheer magnitude of Montezuma Falls. Thank you to our guide Andrea for sharing this photo. #makeyourselfathome #tassiestyle #wilderness #winter #westcoasttasmania #montezumafalls #waterfalls #seeaustralia Discover Tasmania

01.01.2022 With plenty of rain coming down over the last few days autumn to mid-winter is the best time to view fungi in Tasmania. Most of the species may be found growing beside the many walking tracks - have you spotted any? This picture of flame coral fungus was taken by our guide Richard. Richard has a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science and a PhD in Forest Science and is especially interested in the diversity of fungi. #makeyourselfathome #tassiestyle #walkingtrackstasmania #winter #fungi #seeaustralia Discover Tasmania
