19.01.2022 What you should you look for when booking a cruise to Antarctica? 1. Size of the ship The size of the ship (or more precisely the number of passengers) will have a big impact on the experience you have.... Ships over 500 passengers cannot land on Antarctica at all so you'll be restricted to viewing through binoculars as your pass it by. Only 100 passengers can land at any one time so the fewer passengers the more time you'll get to experience walking where few others ever will. 2. Excursion inclusions Does your ship include access to Zodiac and Kayaking experiences in Antarctica (either paid or included) The closer to nature you can get, the more intense the experience you'll have. 3. Level of Luxury Not too long ago, the only way to do Antarctica was on an old-school expedition ship with few luxuries, but with so many options currently available, you can get out and experience Antarctica and do so onboard a ship with every luxury and amenity you could desire. It would seem, right now more than ever, everyone is an armchair expert in whats happening in the world and many are ready to call the end of the cruising industry much in the same way that people predicted the demise of the airline industry after an all too regular run of crashes in the 70s and after 9/11. The fact is, the cruise industry wont just surv...ive, it will thrive...will it take time to recover, absolutely, but there are vastly different cruising experiences out there and each will bring with it its own recovery time. While large tourist class cruise lines may take a while to recover, luxury, smaller ship cruising will (in my humble opinion) bounce back relatively quickly once the restrictions are lifted and borders reopened predominately because the passengers who frequent these ships are steadfastly loyal and love being on the ocean. Cruising is no more likely to disappear after COVID-19 than air travel was after 9/11, both marked a significant moment in time but with the passage of enough time people will return to the ocean and forward bookings into 2021 and 2022 are already reflecting this.
