22.01.2022 We hope everyone had a good Christmas and new years. Our day for "whats on in the Apiary" Has been changed from the Saturdays to Sundays, we have changed the way we work this year and have made Saturdays a family day. Those who wish to purchase gear directly, or need assistance with hives will be able to organise this either Thursdays, Fridays or Sundays, of course we understand that bees don't go by calendars or time frames and we will do the best we can to accommodate that.... OUR NEXT "Whats in the Apiary" Will bee 12/01/2020. 10am start, We have shifted our location temporarily To the lavender house perfumery at 32 Waterton Hall road Rowella. those wishing to attend we ask you register your intention to attend by contacting us and placing a deposit to secure your spot as we would like to know numbers to cater for. We appreciate all those who supported us last year with this and hope to continue to have this support to be able to give our valuable time and knowledge to those who want to become or learn more ways of bee keeping after all we need to do our part to sustain our honey in the state.

10.01.2022 To those wishing to attend our next "whats happening in the Apiary" that would normally be this weekend it has been moved to the following weekend due to us attending a field day tomorrow (Saturday) sorry for any inconvenience, those who would like to get in touch and confirm their spot for next weekend please do so before end of next week so we can cater for numbers attending. 08.01.2022 An interesting yet frustrating day. We had a call from the council about a hive at the local waste transfer station. Upon arrival a "few" boxes had been disposed of in the skip. Plenty of bee activity unfortunatly were robbing the candied honey in the frames. Soon only to discover many more that had been covered up resulting in roughly 30 plus boxes and 200kg later. The most concerning part of the situation was evidence of possible disease, samples have been taken for testing and Tas Fire were contacted to arrange permits for the burning of the equipment. This is a severe breach of biosecurity and further investigations will continue
06.01.2022 Our first day at the lavender house and perfumery was another success with participants being more hands on and gave me a chance to take a break . One hive the queen had failed, while there was a virgin queen the decision was made to unite to another smaller hive. The most satisfying part of the day was $100.00 of proceeds being donated to rural aid / hive aid. Stay posted as items to be cleared will be posted with 10% of products sold will be donated also for the next month.
03.01.2022 Well our second hands on instruction session was run today the weather was perfect and the girls well beehaved We had a nice turn out with some new faces who were fascinated by the information they received and im sure they went away with more of an insight into how much goes on behind the scenes to get that sweet golden gem into a jar or in other forms. These sessions we hope will not just appeal to newer people wishing to gain knowledge to possibly owning their own hives but those who already have hives and want to learn more about other ways of beekeeping or just enjoying a day out in the sunshine with like minded people doing what they love and at the end enjoy a cuppa and a snack.
