24.01.2022 First load of cattle for the year RTB.

18.01.2022 First camel steaks for the year. After an afternoon swimming in the now full and fresh, Lake Carnegie we came across a camel on the way home. We still have plenty of camels, in the last week we have come across 20 camels in multiple mobs. They are in a lot better condition than the last few weeks of 2019, and fitter.... A goal for the year is to capture and domesticate a few camels, as well as provide trial camels for industry development and research.

18.01.2022 Looking good for the industry; we just need to keep up momentum and put forward a plan that will attract investment. And we are working on one here at Prenti! Not just for meat, but that's the kick off point for a variety of uses for camel. https://www.countryman.com.au//pastoral-push-for-wa-camel-

17.01.2022 As a reminder; If you are shooting on any pastoral lease without permission, you will loose your firearms licence, and your firearms, will not be able to hold a firearms licence for a minimum of five (5) years. And on top of that you will have a criminal record. ... Prenti Downs - Carnegie Road, is private property, and you will face charges of trespassing. Prenti Downs, no camping, no shooting, no trespassing. Thank you.

15.01.2022 So I've had enough. Early in December (01/12/2019) I contacted the WA Minister for Police (Michelle Roberts), regarding her comments that a self loading rim-fi...re was suitable for large feral animals, such as camels. She has not replied, nor acknowledged my email (I did receive an automated reply). This is extremely disappointing. Those that believe that once the rain hits, the camels are no longer an issue are wrong, they are healthier and are more challenging to control in large numbers. This morning I came across a mob of 30-35 camels, of which I was only able to kill 9 of, as I am only permitted to use a category B rifle (in this case, a bolt action.) The minister commented in the media, that primary producers had access to category C firearms, such as the semi automatic .22 rim-fire, the smallest cartridge in the photos below, next to a .308 (left), which the national code of practice calls the smallest that should be used on camels. I contacted the minister questioning the ethics of suggesting that we use a cartridge that is designed for rabbits on animals that can weigh over 500kg. I refuse to use rim-fire firearms on large feral animals in an open environment, as it goes against my personal beliefs of animal welfare. It is horrific to see the Minister for Police in Western Australia to make this suggestion, and I question who is advising her comments and decisions. In the State of Western Australia no one is permitted to own any firearm that is of Category D, which in other states people in my position, are allowed to. (this even goes for certain pump-action firearms of certain appearance) There are only 9 authorized shooters in the state of Western Australia, and they all are employed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. These shooters rarely are made available to pastrolists, and come at a high cost. They are also permitted to use up to 10 rounds per animal. The concern here is that it is creating and enforcing a monopoly on feral animal control. There is no private enterprise, and no option for pastrolists to have access to the same tools as those employed by DPIRD. I have made myself available to be contacted by the Minister, but too long has passed, and the issue continues. I can't wait behind closed doors, this issue needs to come to light, and I have to call out the Minister in public. As always, I am in full support of the development of a camel industry in Australia, and am continuing to to work towards this. The fact remains that until such a stage that we can make money from camels, we need to remove them from our properties (as denoted in the conditions of our lease) in the most economic manner. There will always be a need for category D firearms in primary production in Australia. Edit: the article where the minister made these comments is linked here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.abc.net.au/article/11725546

13.01.2022 A good long weekend for a BBQ by the lake and have mates up!

13.01.2022 G’day everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know the Gunbarrel highway is CLOSED I cannot stress this enough please do not come through the Gunbarrel until the... roads are fixed there are extreme washouts, flooded roads and flood damage! If we do not know you’re coming or currently traveling we can’t come help you in case of emergency unless you have a sat phone. We have now had 4 cars come through one car experiencing damage that we had to fix... As much as we want people to come visit and see the amazing scenery we do not want anyone getting hurt or stuck somewhere with a damaged vehicle. Please be patient and wait till the roads are fixed we will keep you updated but again please be smart about coming! Any vehicles coming through will be reported to the shire of Wiluna. By coming on the road you are potentially doing more damage which we have to get fixed and there’s already a great amount of damage please do not create more, be considerate we have to use these roads to work and it makes our jobs harder when there’s tyre tracks digging into the road because someone has driven through it when it was wet. If you have any questions please call us on (08)9981 2991 Or email us at [email protected] Thank you See more

13.01.2022 A casual reminder; With the travel restrictions coming in soon, and given that we are surrounded by aboriginal communities. Anyone travelling through Prenti Downs will be reported to the relevant authorities, and you will have to explain to them why you were there. ... Remember that this is for everyone's safety, and in particular the vulnerable members of our community. Thanks

11.01.2022 ----UPDATE: These two also have been pinged trespassing on our neighbouring station Carnegie. [Yet more unauthorised access] We also have some information that they had been caught on a Chinese owned station. So as a heads up, these people have no respect for anyone, and are serial trespassers. UPDATE----... Here is a classic of people trying to sneak past the homestead, and being caught by the plane. If you want to travel through private property have the courtesy to ask, we are here and you can contact us. Here are a couple of vehicles that we identified with the aircraft and then stopped. Claiming ignorance is no excuse.

09.01.2022 The full Landline article for those interested. Let's hope we can be one of the drivers to commercialisation of the camel, and stop the waste, let's turn a pest into profit.

07.01.2022 Camel steak sandwiches, not a bad Sunday lunch!

01.01.2022 The amount of water is insane. 3 metres deep in places, and fresh enough to drink!
